I'll take it anyway they want to re-release it!

Also if you take irrational out of SS3 it is not SS3

Id say and SS2 for arcade would be awesome, kinda like the DOOM remake, or the Marathon remake for arcade.

Throw in some HD textures and sounds, add multiplayer deathmatch maybe using your SP/co-op char? haha it would be fun.

    I'd rather a PC re-release personally, but I wouldn't object to a PSN and Live re-release too.

I'd also love to try it on the Wii just for the lollops.

    Wii FPS = FAIL.

But it might be able to withstand the graphics.

Oh you know you werent... =P If they would just stop making the crosshair move, and move the whole screen i think they could pull off a good fps on the wii.

You can get SS2 working on the latest operating systems. Additionally, with System Shock Rebirth mod and another mod, the models are more detailed and textures, high resolution that the base game.

I am sure you can find a copy of SS2 on ebay or something for cheap.

I personally wouldn't play SS2 on XBLA since it wouldn't have the update mods (fan made).

SS2 for either PSN or XBL (or even both) would be a major seller, IMO. And yeah, upgrading the graphics, sound and music a bit would most definitely be a must.

I would prefer it on XBLA, but a lot of bonus material could make for a sweet proper disc.

SS2 on Live or PSN would be awesome!

But....those updated mods, I believe, really ruined the atmosphere of the game. The old enemy models are way creepier and way more terrifying, while the new ones look...well...pretty not scary and weird. Just my opinion though

In my mind, it was definitely the spiritual successor.

    The Wii.

I think it would play much better on this console, if only for the Wiimote part of it that allows you to have a cursor. Seriously, imagine navigating like that on the 360 or PS3 on a gamepad. It would be hell, especially in chaotic/frantic situations that require quick action.

I'd prefer to have a hard copy of the game, if they were going to rerelease it. And as far as "shocking-systems" ( ) to release it on, I'd prefer to just get it on the PC again; but I wouldn't be so picky to as to ask for that exclusively. I'd love a chance to get some Trophies for all my SS2 work.

And as a side note... isn't EA still working on an actual SystemShock 3? And a new Theif and Deus Ex for that matter?

  20. #20

That's only a rumor. There has been no official confirmation of work on SS3, but it's very likely what they're doing.

A new Deus Ex is confirmed for this year, and I don't know about Thief either.

  21. #21

Yeah, I knew that the SS3 talk was all rumors, but it still intrigued me. And as far as new Deus Ex and Thief go, I know that they are technically "official" but there isn't much word on them. Only thing I've heard is that the new DX is supposed to take place before the others, and the new Thief is supposed to "reboot" the series.

But of course all information is subject to change, and it's all pretty talk for now.

Indeed. A new System Shock is in every fan's dreams at the moment. All we can do is speculate for now.

I still think a Steam release or GOG release is more likely...

If there's a XBLA version, I also want a PSN version! I hope that it would be possible to remaster it, kinda like recent companies have been doing as of lately.

Well it's not Irrational who we should petition, it's probably EA.

I've never played SS2 I'd want nothing more than to play it, but oh well damn I don't have it. If they do remake it have it out on XBLA that'd be great.

Now that I think about it, I think it may be possible for a re-release of SS2 on DD services like Steam and PSN.

I mean EA has the publishing rights, while the original developers (whose name I just forgot) have the development rights.

As you can see, SS2 is complete and has been released a long time ago, which means EA could do a re-release. However this would mean that the game's code cannot be touched since they don't have the rights in that way.

Still, if EA re-released it. It would mean that it would be Origin exclusive .

I still have this game on Disc ha

    It was a quality game!

on any platform (PC, PlayStation, Xbox).... i would love an HD remake but sadly, it looks like it is not IG's call (or at least Ken Levine's).... or at least being ported to consoles anytime soon

I'd love to see it re-ported to the xbox 360/PS3.

It was a fantastic game, and it's a damned shame that this generation might not be able to play the masterpiece.
