God damn ☺☺☺☺ sucking mother ☺☺☺☺ers my game worked fine launching in offline mode until the new patch... Now I launch my game while not connected, tell it to start in offline mode and it tells me it can't perform the action because it's not connected to the internet.
Why the ☺☺☺☺ do I need to be connected to the internet!? I want to play the game when I want to play it WITHOUT being online! I shouldn't have to connect to the internet to tell the game to start without connecting to the internet!

You should calm down, learn to read, read the instructions, and then follow them.
You don't have to be connected to the internet, that is just you misunderstanding something about how to use Steam. My young son plays offline on his laptop all the time.
You don't have to get the ads, you can turn them off, that's just you misunderstanding something else about how to use Steam.

BTW, which new update do you mean? It seems to me you haven't played in a while, boot up Steam, which updates and has a different set-up. ALL of this had nothing to do with Civ whatsoever, but thanks for coming here and telling the world how computer-literate you are.
