E3 - What would you like to see?

Perhaps a bit early to be already discussing this, but ... On June 5, E3 will once again come around. I have looked at the exhibitor list, but haven't found 2K on it. I'm sure this is just an oversight. Why wouldn't 2K be there?

Anyway, what would you guys like to see? I know, it's a press and retail only gig, but in general, new stuff gets on the internet and we do get to watch all the new goodies. I would love to see a new trailer, even if it is just another variant on the same "sectoid, muton, squad" theme. A bit like the trainyard footage on Pax East. And ofcourse, I wouldn't mind a trailer showing more of the Geoscape. If there was a trailer showing Geoscape action right up to a Battlescape mission and its conclusion, I would squee with glee.

EDIT: I'm a dolt. 2K falls under Take 2 Interactive. Yeah, XCOM will be present at E3.

What I'd like to see is a bit of a media blowout and no more of this breadcrumbs bull***.
Stop being all mysterious and show me what the game has to offer, after all it'll be out within a few months so everything is pretty much bolted down now anyway.
Show us the tech tree, the different mission types, ufo interception, the missing aliens, etc...

+1 dont show us everything but show more then just a very quick mission and a quick tour of the ant farm. We'd liek to see some reasearch examples maybe a bit more combat or some of the ablities our units can get later game. Interception i think is a must, will it just be watch and wait like th eold UFO or will they be adding a mini game where we get to actually control a lil interceptor and shoot at aliens? that sorta thing.

I would love to see the following (but hopefully not give away surprises)

1- Any possible easter eggs or fun content in base (i.e. Alien torture...interrogations, research projects blowing up, SHIV malfunctions etc).

2- Any updates to the medals and rewards system (if there is more than just nicknames and rank)

    3- Geoscape updates

4- multiple skyrangers? Possible upgrades and reasons to upgrade

5- Interception, interception, interception (really curious to see how this is implemented)

6- Possible map with all rookies and any thirdparty troops/humans and other factions

7- Store for buy/sell equipment and researched data and if it has any real world effect (i.e. if you sell laser rifles, do they start to show up in civilian or military hands reflected in the game for example.

Something about the mission generation, is interception actually a way to generate missions in the same dynamic way as 1994?

Definately want to see how they're handling this. Aside from that, maybe a little more on base interactions and dealing with nations.

Yep defintly wanna see footage of a crashed ufo and hopefully how we are able to shoot them down.I am very intrested in knowing more about either the home nations own troops and police forces and if certain nations turn against you - will those nations troops attack you?
would like to see some shivs in action as well - maybe a bit more about the thin men

One additional thing I thought about has nothing to do with the game play. I would like to see if they have built in screen capture and mini mission video record/playback. (the second would be cool but I would love to capture screens of my squad in action for my desktop wallpaper and when the game has built in functionality for that even better).

Of course all the open questions:
    - fighting within an UFO
    - interception
    - alien base mission

I'd rather see more details on the logistics/management side of the game, if there's still one.

Just don't watch it then. I want to get spoilered as much as possible. I'll replay this game more than a dozen times so who cares.

If I don't watch it, I won't get any info about the game, which I want but what I don't want and neither do quite a few here, is to have every last surprise spoiled in a game called 'Enemy Unknown'

Yeah I would like to see some of the mechanics of the game not a lot but things like base building and research....

But more info on the AI and difficulty range... also the difference between the PS3 360 versions and the PC....

Also PC spec and if I can use a controller on the PC....

also Explaining of MP how that will work and stuff... it would be awesome idea if you can create a research deal.... where it would take say 3 friends to fund certain items... pool money and such.... not have to be online together but get money funded and an message of okay...

OOOOOOOhhhhhhhhhhhhhh so looking forward to this game... I can only get one game this last six months of the year and that is the game I am getting....
    that would be kool....

Also I want to a collectors edition something kool and I hope it sells well I would love to see what they do with X-Com Terror from the deep type of game...

    So excited.....

Weird bit of logic over there. Same attitude with movies? I mean, you're gonna see the ending eventually, so why one shouldn't spoil the ending before you see the movie?

For the love of sainted Gollop, There! will! Be! No! MP! In! XCOM:EU!

Edit: Remember what happened to that guy the Berserker got in the gameplay vid? That's what will happen to the next guy to ask about MP in this game!

I want to know 4 things and they are in order of importance.

    1. Is Armed NPC support in the game (not asking for detail, don't need to know who they are, scale of support, type: police military or gangs, scripted or "free" AI units, I just want to know if it is in the game or not.)

    2. Can we go inside UFOs and kill aliens on at least some mission (just confirm it)

    3. I want conformation ethereal and Chyssalid are in the game, maybe snakemen too (No pics, no details, no descriptions, I just want to re-leave my fear and then not really know what to expect from them.)

    4. Is there going to be a collectors addition and will it have the original upgrade-remake they made before they started the "re-imagined" version we now call X-com: Enemy Unknown. JS was talking about it in an off hand comment. If they are and it is ... I want to know where it will sell and if I can change my amazon pre-order so I can get it.

After I find these out, its just time to wait. If they want to show more game play mechanic that's fine but I don't want anymore then acknowledgement and mechanics, no story or aliens spoilers.

    Indeed.

As for MP, it's messed up enough series: Call of Duty, Total War is going that way as well - we don't need the same thing happening with Xcom. Keep it SP Firaxis and make it as good as you can.

While it'd be nice to see, it doesn't really make for interesting viewing in an E3 trailer.

Since they already have the kill-cam, I'd love to see the memorial with a short video of how each dead squaddie died.

The more i think about it - i would like to see some decent video footage of proper missions and a few more facts about the game - i feel like a dog at the moment the odd scrap fed to me every now and then - the release date aint that far off - lets have some good hard facts and some good videos of stuff we havent seen.
It doesnt have to be spoliers on everything about the game but lets open the gates a little?

A short scene showing the scientist lady look up from her tablet computer and tell the camera, "So, we decided to name it, The Chrysallid" Cut to a shot of a soldier's jaw-dropping expression of horror with perhaps a nasty alien sound effect, then reveal absolutely nothing more about it.

Or, show a soldier equip screen where you can choose either a Rocket Launcher, RPG Launcher, or Blaster Launcher.

Or, show 3 soldiers closely grouped on the battlescape and an alien grenade land between them.

Or, the camera tracks along the memorial wall, then cuts to show how the soldier just named actually fell in battle, then back to the next name.

Hmm. Beyond wanting the release date, I'm curious if it will have an Encyclopedia type deal like Firaxis's Civilization Revolution.
It would just be cool reading about all the stuff, and having short animated vids of the aliens doing their thing (or whomever).

Oh God yes! Uhm, I mean, it would be nice to something like that, not actually nice to see your soldiers die. I mean, I'm not that sadistic. I'm not. Trust me.

Frankly speaking: Yes. I hate movies with a twist ending, because most of the time the twist is the only thing interesting about the whole movie.
Ever watched the Sixth Sense after you know the ending? It's boring as hell!

Anyway I'm just saying you don't HAVE to spoil yourself. Just ask someone here to post it spoiler free.
I want to see as much as possible from this game to make sure I won't waste 50- 60 euros.

What is the max lvl for an individual soldier?
How many can you have in reserve?
How many classes are there (what they are would be nice too, ; )).

Will there be close quarters kills that the soldiers can do (for each alien) and vice versa? Also, if so, will equipped weapon designate what they do, or will their class possibly? I can totally see a Assault soldier shotgunning a Muton in the leg or chest, jumping up onto their prone form to shoot them point blank in the face.
I mean, if a Muton/Berserker can pwn a soldier like the one did in the video, why not be able to return the favor with equal style?

Does switching to your sidearm cost a move? It would kinda make sense, since reloading costs a move. A sniper has to reload and a Thin Man jumps up right next to you. Quick draw and empty your clip into it before you hike it away from them (I think the Game Informer said they explode).

Since you can quietly open doors as opposed to a hard entry, is there a chance that enemies won't become automatically aware and you've have a chance for an ambush scenario? Like instead of the Insectoids looking over at you like alerted animals, you see them doing whatever they were doing (eating that body, or whatever). Your chance to crit would be higher, if not your chance to hit period.
I mean, there would still be a 'Here they are!' scene minus them noticing you, and scrambling for cover in the first round. Just a thought.

If you CAN sneak up on them pre-skirmish, make you can drop them immediately with the Arc Thrower since they aren't initially aware and their adrenaline (or its equivalent) flying around. Once again, Crit chance or something.

Lastly, will classes look different at all? or with perks from class? Like, Civ Rev comes to mind. You could boost them with the Infiltration bonus, and they'd get black armor and such. Or will any variation in appearance (if any) come soley from different/unique armor? Or can you customize that from the beginning (like color if nothing else; black, green, gray, camoflauged, etc).

If I knew the answer to these, I think I could relax (after another week of freaking out, lol) until the 3rd Quarter of this year.
Also, if these aren't available...well, I'll be looking for a thread on game ideas shortly, heh.

Actually, I hate to burst anyone's bubble, but I doubt we'll see much in the way of deliberate new stuff. Especially not anything as specific as some of the desires posted. Now, don't get me wrong, I'd like to know some of that, too. However, E3 is usually and unveiling to the general gaming pubic (i.e. the people not here on the these forums).

Don't be surprised if we don't get a whole bunch of new info, that's all I'm saying.

I would like to see 1 new alien revel but not a full one just a few frame flash at the end of a demo, and some thin man movement.
    That's all really.

I would like to see more gameplay, including the geoscape and base management. Say a 30 minute clip of second by second from starting a new game to taking part in the first combat mission and returning back to base with things to research. I really want to see the extend of this games complexity and depth.

This seems good of a place to ask as any, but while I'll take all and anything they've got to show about EU, I'd really like to see XCOM at E3. I'm eager to see how far that project has come along since the last time it was shown.
Perhaps understandably, but I'm finding it very difficult to find updates and talk about 2K Marin's FPS, when people casually interchange between talk of XCOMs (Marin's game, but used also as shorthand for Enemy Unknown )

Is this the place to ask about whether Marin are expected/announced to be at E3? I'll get to Enemy Unknown, no doubt, but I've been filtering it out, basically, as I wait to learn more about the telling of the XCOM organisation's humble beginnings, which lets you say "you were there!"

This and some real gameplay footage by a real player, not a marketing rep reading and playing a script.

Let someone like Total Biscuit play the game and do some candid video commentary, for ex.

All we have been told is that they are keeping both games together in this forum. I agree that it is confusing, it must be especially so to newcomers. I would expect there to be a new branch added to make it more clear which game is being discussed, maybe after E3?
