Sid Meier's Pirates for iPhone-No bombardment minigame??

I just found Pirates in the app store last night and was soooo excited. I played the original endlessly. So I get a good fleet going, attacking the Spanish left and right (who doesnt) and went to sack my first city...

I get the options of Enter or Bombardment. I choose Bombardment and I just get a simple text result saying I won or lost. If I win I see nothing, if I lose I am in prison. I saw online that there is a mini-game for bombardment followed by fighting the captain of the guard, and if you win can change governorship. I see nothing like that! If I win, it says "You win" and I'm back sailing.

Can someone please tell me what's going on? If I can't plunder cities whats the point of the game??????
