Game won't start in HD

So... I've had BS1 on PC for a while. It's worked fine, for the most part. However, sometimes I will play games on my HDTV. I can run the game perfectly fine at my usual non-HD resolution, but as soon as I try to change any of the settings the game will freeze up, and then refuse to launch again until I restart my computer. This only happens when I am using the TV.

This is really annoying, and I would like to be able to play this game in HD for the first time. If there's any help to be given, it is appreciated. Near as I can figure, this game just has an issue with 1080p, but I'm not sure how accurate that may be...

Have you tried to manually set up the screen resolution as detailed in the Bioshock Tweak Guide, specifically on Page 7?
