    Zombies anybody?

I think that the game should incorporate zombies into its list of bad guys. This could be done without parting from the sci-finess of the whole thing quite easily. Imagine that the alien forces have at their disposal a troop that is symbiotic in nature that can "puppeteer" dead organic units. Crawling inside and attaching to the brain stem. Perhaps transforming it with some sort of claws or spikes for offense and defense capability. Imagine bloodied citizens, policmen, dead xcom agents etc rushing to melee your units after you thought they were down.

If not - this will be one of the first things I mod.

No - still in uniform and flesh of the dead organic unit. In fact hard to differentiate except for the fact they are attacking you. Chryssalids broke out of the skin of your dead guys all the way looking all alien and ready to be killed. I dont see those as being zombie enough for my taste. I want civilians with glowing eyes or something like that not a total transformation of that unit into another unit.

Their victims are, for all intents and purposes, zombies until the chrysalid hatches. There will be 'zombies' so to speak in the game, so if you wanted to mod a standard zombie class of enemy into the game, assuming the game is mod friendly, there would be pre existing assets for that.

Thought the victim of an attack turned into a zombie, then when you kill the zombie, they transform into the Chryssalid? Was just rare to see, because the attack that turns them into a zombie usually killed them as well?

Playing X Com: UFO Defense right now in fact, and yes, first the victims run around as zombies. After you "kill" the zombie, it sheds its skin and becomes another Chryssalid.

Interesting fact: zombies can use weapons. A rookie got too close to the Chrysallid outbreak and got zombified. I had one of my guys open fire with his laser rifle, and the freakin' zombie used a reaction shot to fire back with the laser rifle he still had equipped! The kicker? That damn zombie soldier was a better shot than my guys!! He actually shot and killed the first soldier to open fire.

    Never underestimate a zombie.

to be frank, I really dont find zombies that innovative anymore, since...the original dawn of the dead...
there're loads of other games out there where you can pop zomies faces, for me there's no need to incorporate them into a UFO defense game. just my 2 cents. (feel free to write a code and mod though!)

Well theres tons of WWII stuff out there and they constantly spam that.

Doesn't it seem ironic after all these years of other games getting xcom mods - that now we have xcom and we plan to mod it to other games ...

My vote we be an army of darkness mod

Not every game must have zombies. =P

That's like asking for katanas to be in the game because Katanas Are Just Better.

Agreed, not every game must have zombies, but X-Com should. Because it does.

OK, no pirates and no ninjas - but zombies fit Xcom just fine I think.

    How about zombie pirates?
    ...or pirate zombies?
    ...or pirate ninja zombies?
...or pirate zombies that made a later career change into zombie ninjas?

Hehe maybe once they get the game engine sorted out they can license the "Resident Evil" name... That seems like a genre that would have its fans and lend itself very well to the same kind of gameplay... Make the most of your development dollars people! ^.^

Crippled zombie that looks like hunchback of Notre Dame dribbling and vomiting green goo. New zombies don't seem that cool. They do look crippled tho, have to give them that

They need to turn into a zombie ninja with an eye patch and thatll just suffice. Well all be happy. But he must so one backflip. Then, its official.
