Game 2 with weismuller. Very similar to Raven's greek vs . greek game. His germans beat my mongols. Walk for like 6 or 7 turns. Pick up only 10 gold. I see spanish borders and get excited. So settle within couple tiles. Next turn my heart breaks when i see spanish borders turn into german ones. Damn. I have very little gold and am within 2 tiles of germans with their vet warriors and to make matters worse there is a hill between Karakorum and Madrid. Terrible situation to be in. Pretty much my only chance is to rush a warrior next turn and try to take hill before he does. Hard to do especially since he's host and he just got his internet speed upgraded right before game, lol. Needless to say, he gets it first. So i move my only warrior out of cap (leaving it defenseless) and try another button race next turn for Madrid before he can rush warrior hopefully. He wins that race too and my 1vs. 2 attack fails. He marches his other warrior into my cap. Game over. I go 1-1 against Weismuller.
Finished 1-1 against Raven. His Romans beat my English. Basically him getting Great Wall early and then flipping 1 of my best cities sealed it for him. He got every first-to bonus except writing. He took out zulu early. I got Indians early and Spain later for Nav. I expanded well but left myself vulnerable to his cats/galleon fleet. He won with all 5 caps. gg Raven.
Alright just adding my story to the game i played vs Angellus.
My romans vs his English
I walk abit and find a good hut wich shows me The Angkor Wat. Settle and take a barb same turn. Settled on a crappy no food spot so i was planning to rush some horses and get some AI, but the barb gives me a boat, and moving it i spot zulu borders on a small island south of me. I put my warrior in the boat and walking on zulu at 3500.
Hammer 2 more warriors out, 1 in each city and decide to send my boat to pick up AW. I get loads of barbs but im on a Spy seed so it takes quite some to get my 100g. I also notice Angellus having researched horses, so i figured to counter him with the same unless.....i find the GW with AW.
I get GW eventually and decide to just take full abuse of it and go on a mass exp spree, got 15 cities by 1500bc and take all techs that are worth something. Angellus takes out india pretty early and also spain, despite me declaring war on them very early.
I switch to gold when i got galleons and hammer out 4 CA's. It wasnt the fastest because there was no real production anywhere on my side. My first GP was a GA and i couldnt use it for a long time, but when he sets up a new city with dye i can flip it.
Eventually Angellus gets engineering and he takes back the city i flipped. But in the same turn i can drop my 4 CA off near madrid. I take some cities and sail to London and Delhi for Dom victory. I suspected he would have had something offensive wise there but i guess he could not manage it in time. I take both cities in 1 turn and he gives in.
I think i played it alright. The map was abit sucky but i think i took full adv off the GW i got. gg Angellus
You had all 5 caps. You actually fulfilled domination conditions. So i "gave in" after u already won. Reason i had nothing offensive besides that early HA and couple cats was because i was also lacking in production until late. Should've settled barracks city sooner.

There was no production on my side, not even 2 hills together lol. My main barrack city was a 2 pop with oak
Good job guys having this rolling. I would have love to get in, but I would have delayed the tourney too much I think.

Im pretty sure because of the good games we had a new one will start soon. Even though i still have 2 games left i can say this was a great thing. Learned alot and still lots to be learned

He says that he cant sign in for some reason. He doesnt know why. Its looking like there is going to be a real traffic jam at 7-7. Going to be really interesting everyone finishes all games to see who gets into the playoffs. Probably going to be a playoff to get into the playoffs.

I haven't played everybody in the tourney but I though jap/cb would do better then 7-7. I must have overestimated him

I was very disappointed in my performance. I had plans of world domination but thats how the cookie crumbles... I have no excuses though. Just got outplayed in some games.
Finally I played my first game vs Wiseone. My Spanish win his Russians. I used the tactic that taught me Japy, consisted in making a fleet of ships to accompany first warriors and later legionaries and catapults (Japy thanks again for your strategy). Actually I wasn't very well, because due to my impatience I recovered his capital a couple of times in differents moments in the game but to carry few defence units, it turned quickly to recover. So I took a long time, also because I was concerned in lead the technology race and I started to build cities on islands with whales. The truth is that he knew how to overcome my attacks very well. In my opinion made a mistake to the focus on some of the cities that had Islands (took two) while I was preparing the final attack to its capital and to its main city annexed. In any case, Wise played well bearing in mind also that their civilization was inferior to mine. GG Wise.

We are getting beaten by a forum lurker, he cant make an account for some reason. But he knows what hes doing, a very good player with lower then top tier civs.

First my french against his aztec. I get loads of gold walking settle next to him and lose 6-6 when his HA attacks my WA. Story of this tournament
My germans vs his spain.
This game was full of bugs. He did a good job not letting me do my thing. Lost HA at Indian cap 9 vs 4. Take Romans for CoL, and he just sits there and tech, he gets loads of GS, eventually drops a Cata army and takes rome, wich i flip back.
He then drops a Cata army next to 1 of my barrack cities with an AA, i kill his AA with a WA and next turn his 1 Cata army overruns all my units, like 7-8 in 1 battle, according to Xwise this is normal...lol.
Anyway im glad i did not make it through, the story of this tournament is that i lost practically all 50 50 games. Wich is just the story of my game in short. Goodluck to you guys.
If he really overrun your unit, 7:1 odds in battle or more, it's totally normal, if not, it is not and there is a way to do it but it's really not legitimate to do. I'm not implying anything, but if you were at less then 7:1 odds you should ask some questions...

Alright i get it, its abit weird though because i could have armied up or rushed something when he attacked. I thought it worked the same with barbs you just need to attack again. I guess i owe an apology to Xwise, the game was still very buggy besides that though but he did a good job!
I had painful loss against zulu when they overrun fortified archer with knight army when I had multiple cats in the city...
I have a bad habbit of forgetting zulu overrun at 3:1 odds instead of 7:1. I've lost several games on account of not armying up when they have overrun odds.
Its a bad game mechanic in my opinion, sometimes it feels like they wanted to do to many things on autopilot. In close games every sec counts, but hey.
Overrun only takes all units in one step if they are in a city, since the unit with the highest defense is used first (in 98% of the cases). So an overrun in the first battle will overrun everything else too -> all units are taken in one step.
If you overrun on a regular tile, you have to do it unit after unit. E.g. barb huts or stack of opponent units. Let's say there are 2 archers and a cat army on a tile and you attack with 22.5. You will overrun both archers (e.g. 3 defense) and then you have to do a regular attack on the 6 defense cat army. But you need to attack the archers first since the defensive unit "guards" that cat army, even though it is an overrun.
well guys xwise has decided to forfeit his remaining games. I will update the standing accordingly. sucks that it happened that way but we must push forward. all games that he has previously played will still count on your record. once (mario09) and star(angellusfs6) finish their final two games we will sort out the playoffs.
Thats ashame, especially because i seem to be the big loser in this story. Oh well...
Hopefully we can play tomorrow. We never seem to be on at same time and when we are he's usually playing something else.
sorry that it happened that way raven but i think its the best option. The games that every1 already played against him should still count because they happened. only person it really affected was forum and aledeus because it puts them in the mix for playoff contention. Sucks we all have to suffer for one guy but thats how it goes
Mario sure doesn't have to suffer because of it. It adds to his already impressive record. Looks like he's going to be top seed.
This is not fun, but we just have to play on. Still can't belive why he didn't want to restart the game. A freeze can happen and it did.It has always been restarts in xbox tourneys without a questin about it. He thought it was his game - I was sure it was mine. When a freeze occure restart is the only option unless the game is decided.
Is that why he is forfeiting his remaining games? Cause of a disagreement over what to do in a freeze? What kind of freeze was it?Advisor clash? Were u both frozen?
