Thumbs up More Future Tech Ideas

    Here are a few ideas:

1.Space Mirrors. To permanently remove annoying frozen tiles by melting.
    (melt the ice from space.)
2.Anti-Nuke Tech: to stop incoming nukes and/or shoot one back automatically.
3.Extreme Engineering: to allow cities to grow even larger via huge skyscrapers
(It would be cool to see cities with huge buidings like the Burj Khalifa or Kingdom Tower.)
    4.Mind Control: to increase happiness.
5.Doomsday Device: a bomb to transform an area with a nuke radius into desert.
6.Fusion Tech: to allow cities to grow even larger. Build fusion reactor.
7.Anti Gravity Tech: to build flying saucers with 3 attacks per turn and long range. The ultimate weapon. (can hover over any tile type.)
    8. Super Crops: +3 food per farm tile.

Allow cities to have a larger city radius or grow a larger population?

Also, I've always wanted more terraforming options in the late modern and future eras.

    1. Hmm. I don't think this should be implemented unless they reintroduce the whole global warming/pollution system they had in some of the previous games. You shouldn't be able to zap frozen tiles without some sort of consequence (coastal flooding, for instance).
    2. Now this would be good. I'd also like to see some kind of nuclear embargo (perhaps with a beefed-up UN) which would stop certain players from getting hold of uranium, or promise instant global war if they nuke someone.
    3. I like this. Some kind of supercharged food building (upgrade from Hospitals) would be nice.
    4. Might work better as a Wonder than a technology?
    5. I don't think this is necessary; Nukes do a similar job already.
    6. See 3.
    7. Sounds ridiculously OPed.
    8. It would be good if a late technology increased food production from farms.

I'd like to see the return of underwater cities from Call to Power; less so with space cities, they seemed a bit pointless to me.

This is less futuristic, but I would welcome the return of the Airport to allow units to move between cities in the space of one turn. It seems a bit silly that in 2040 AD people are still pottering around from place to place on railroads.

These would have to be for a scenario. The game ends in a tech victory before that point, so there would be little reason to include this in the real game. Adding content to the "one more turn" phase doesn't add up.

Mod it. It would be neat

I've rarely gotten to Future Techs before the game finishes. There really doesn't seem to be much need for it besides, like people say, scenarios. That being said:

Fusion is already a Future Tech. They're already adding Bomb Shelters. One could easily argue a Nuke is a Doomsday Device. Space Mirror? Why would anyone want to intentionally melt our polar ice caps? We'd lose huge amounts of land! I will not let those damn dolphins win!

    UN Initiative: Reduce global warming.

Majority Vote Yes: Slight decrease in production for certain buildings.

Majority Vote No: Cities and tiles on coasts may take damage from random events. Some ice squares may melt during events or after a set period of turns, sometimes revealing resources and also opening up more tiles for maneuver. Unhappiness increases slightly after a set period of turns.

Food tower: Specialist building, gives ~5 food specialists give 6-5 food each
another unit tier: power armoured infantery, battle mechs (mini gdr), and advanced chopper.

YES, Food Towers are the friggin future! Food specialists would be amazing in a game where we went into the future and were really struggling to feed all our specialists. This, sadly, will probably not get into the game.

Why don't we have farmer specialists outright?

This would be a specialist who imports food from other cities so would be good for a city to grow quickly in a less than fertile area.

If we have a farmer specialist we need a farmer great person, Johnny Appleseed I guess.

When spent he either creates a great garden (miniature Hanging Gardens) or causes the population in a city to grow by 4, or you know whatever number.

The future era would not have "super crops" by any means.

But rather genetically mutated cloned beef that was injected with drugs to produce more muscle mass..

    Reduces Happiness -5

Unless they rework the tech tree so that the Future Era actually becomes a part of the game, with the Apollo Program only coming into effect later, Culture victories taking longer, and so on. I doubt they'll do that, though, considering they'd have to reorganise, oh, just about everything...

I always thought it would have been interesting for the game to have options with different game start dates, so potentially you could start a game in the Medieval, Renaissance, Industrial or Modern eras. Should they make that change, adding in later tech would make a bit more sense.

It would complicate matters though, as if they were to add such a feature, they'd need to scale the game for accommodation. If you started in a later era for example, the game turns would have to account for less "# of years" so that games could still last several hundred turns.

I'm confused. Can't you already choose your start era in Civ V when setting up a game?

Haha, I bet this game just got alot more interesting for you didn't it?

I like playing future era start and pretending that me and 5 other civs "landed" on a new planet and are fighting for the right to it.
