Why aren't there any current ps3 tournaments or leagues? I know there's at least half a dozen active ps3 forum members. Why doesn't someone start a tournament or something? I get tired of playing noobs in ranked that don't even know how to defend against a horserush. Very boring. Might as well be playing SP.
It's been a long time since anything has been accomplished on the PS3 - THIS last attempt by scottie at the end of last year was a bit of a fail.
Best thing you can do is start another and see if there is interest? - You, newsgothic, Raven - I can't think of anyone else?
Plus tcseow and japyaknees. Oh yeah, there's also Barney (except he whines when someone 'double moves' him even though he does it himself, lol). I know HGB rarely plays, anymore. Shame. I'll try to get some of my 'friends' to join the forum and any tournaments that are started. Spainful81 is good with spanish. But, i've never seen him use any other civ.
Im up for this, hopefully get some good worthy games in against good players, rather than the walkover ranked is 99% of the time.
Maybe we can start off with a small tourney and maybe more people will show their face?

xWise is also very good.
I played in the tourney and it was a lot of fun while it lasted. Problem is that I play at the same time of day, so the only people I ever played were tsceow and Barney (only seen him on a couple of times). Played Doja a couple of times but again, seems like he usually plays later. Rarely saw Scottie but I think that's because he defected.

Yes we did. I was no good back then though. Had never been to the forums and soaked up all this knowledge. i am much better nowadays. Just would win because america allows decent players to win if the map is set up right. Think what made me get better was watching a video duke posted when he had egypt vs aztecs, and he stated top level games are mostly a race to industrialization. CHANGED MY LIFE. Lol. I didnt even know about oxford bombers before then. thought it was random!!!! Those were the days.

OK. I'll have to look over again how they are set up in in the x-box tournaments. Don't know when i'll be able to do it. Sometime within next couple days hopefully. One thing i don't like is the "no oxford" rule. So if i'm the one to set up the tournaments i will most likely allow oxford. I think the xbox folks can more easily explain to you why Oxford should be banned, i really dont want a race to industrialization every game. Because thats what im certainly aiming for in every game, if it would be allowed. I dont think it shows much skill to build Oxford the first and then win because you got ridiculous OP unit for your time.

I agree with that, but im sure people will spend more time to finish it in the earlier phases. Oxford and its 100% over, somebody gets to indus, and the other person better made sure they have a reason why to be behind in tech. You still get a chance, you can also both get 1 of the money techs and it will be even.
The problem with oxford is if you manage to grab a few scientists you win the game, no skill required.
I'm ok with Oxford. Many games don't go that long anyway.
Sorry Raven, but that's one thing i'm inflexible about. We can discuss other things (probably better to take discussion to other thread) but that is 1 rule i'm sticking with. Oxford allowed. You wanted me to organize this so if i'm going to take time and effort to do it then that is 1 rule i want. Maybe next tournament if i'm tired of it i'll take it out. Or if u organize u can set the rules. Main reason i want it is that i'm a person of habbit. I still play a good amount of ranked play in which alot of my games are decided by oxford bombers. cont....

No, i'm afraid not allowing oxford will hurt my real ranking because as i said i'm a creature of habit. If i start getting in habbit of playing like oxford is not in game then my real ranking will suffer since oxford is always allowed in ranked play. Unless u can somehow convince everyone who plays ranked not to use oxford EVER AGAIN, lol.

Thats the great thing about these xbox tournaments with no oxford. everyone had gotten used to racing for oxford bombers, by not allowing it it forces people to come up with new strategies with far more galleon and cat army attacks. It mixes things up and makes people think a bit more than be hard core set on one strategy. but it is your tournament and you set it up the way you want to.

Agreed 100%. I was the one who originally proposed banning Oxford and we have never looked back. Allowing Oxford means every game is horshrush>>>>>oxford. But I don't have a PS3, so who am I to tell you what to do :P
