    Ancient Wonders Scenario Advice

Can I get some advice on this scenario? I can't seem to beat it (I try Emperor, Immortal, or Deity every time). I can usually get 3-4 wonders (except on Deity), but there's always one AI that gets everything I don't and they always seem to be on the opposite side of the map. It's usually the Hittites.

How important is conquest in this scenario and what's the best civ to use on Deity?

I've only played on King just to try it out and I won without too much trouble. I imagine it would be the same on Emperor, but Immortal and Deity could get a little tough. If you can't win on Emperor, why are you even trying Deity?

If you are going for Deity, I suggest you do chip away at the others militarily. Try playing as the Hittites as the Heavy Chariot is grossly overpowered, especially because it is strangely immune to spears. At the very least, playing as the Hittites will keep them from beating you from the other side of the map.

I tried Deity because I thought the AIs superpwers at that difficulty might help split the wonders between several AIs instead of one getting them all.

Thanks for the advice on the Chariot. I never even tried it because all the other chariots in the game are so weak.

Any tips on which wonders to go for? Are there certain wonders that the AI is generally slower to obtain?

    Beat it on Deity.

To anybody else needing help: I found the most important thing was playing on the historical map. It's balanced so that no one civ will runaway with 5+ wonders. Every time I tried the inland sea map, the Hittites got everything.

Second, for whatever reason, it never occurred to me until yesterday to just fight nearby CSs for exp for the military wonders. On the historical map, I found that most of the AI are friendly, so the exp wonders are really easy to grab. Declaring war on CSs grants you exp without sharing any with your rivals.

Aim for 4 wonders. You can win with 3, so don't restart if you miss one. As stated above, I recommend the Statue of Zeus and the Great Lighthouse be two of them. I wouldn't bother trying for the science ones on Deity.

i love this scenario, but havent even come close to winning on anything higher than emperor. do you guys rush to get the oracle first at all at the higher difficulties, or skip it and try to develop or something to get some of the other wonders? on difficulties emperor or below i believe i always went straight for the oracle first to lock in the wonder, but maybe that's a problem at higher difficulties, not sure.

It's usually more worthwhile to skip the Oracle since it sets you back for quite some time when you rush it.

Remember that the culture wonders don't require you to actually acquire policies, but just earn a certain amount of culture from the beginning of the game. Thus, extra cities actually help you towards this goal. You want to expand for the money, culture, and science. As Winged already mentioned, grind xp off the nearest city-state that you don't plan on befriending to unlock the military wonders.
