bioshock crashes every time I try to leave through the gates of Port 4 @ Neptume's
Hello,
I've played about 15 hours of bioshock which I've purchased through steam for my PC. Everything was going well, I completed the portion of the quest where I take pictures of the spider splinters at Neptune's Bounty. I am getting ready to return the camera to the guy at the warf. Every time I get near or try to pass through the opened gates at port 4, the game crashes. I am using an xbox 360 controller and when I re-boot the game, it defaults me to PC controls. I've tried to get through the gate using PC controls, yet even using the keyboard instead of the controller, it still crashes.
I've turned down my graphics, update my xbox controller drivers, updated my video card drivers and updated my steam client. Regardless of what I've done, Bioshock still crashes every time I try to walk through the gates. Any suggestions? Thanks!

About the only thing you can try is to reload the Autosave that was created at the beginning of the level and play through again to that part. Other than that, I don't know what to suggest. Sorry.

Hey Aunizi,
I have run into a persistent crash at the same point in the game, so if you've found a solution, I'd appreciate hearing how you got past it. I am playing Bioshock on a newish Dell with Windows 7, in Vista compatibility mode. I've had flawless game play up to this point. Like you, I think I've tried all of the usually suggested fixes: double-checking my hardware specs (they're more than adequate), updating my video card drivers, trying to run Bioshock in DX9 mode, trying different compatibility modes from Windows 2000 to XP SP2, but to no avail. My next best idea is to take headkase's suggestion, and to replay from an earlier save--however, I'm not feeling too enthusiastic about investing time replaying the game, with no knowledge of whether that will resolve this particular crash. Any tips are appreciated!
