8 Player Round Robin Tourney #2

Standard rules of fair play established in other round robin tourneys apply. there will be no oxford. each player will play 2 games against the other 7 members. all civs must be used once, with the exception of china and america. after the 14 games are completed the top 4 players will move on to the playoff rounds. the 1 and 4 seed, and the 2 and 3 seed will meet each other in best of 3 series. the winners will then meet in a best of 5 for the championship. civs used in the 1st playoff round will not be eligible in the final series. the higher seed in playoff matches will host the 1st, 3rd, and 5th games. ties between the 1-4 seeds will be broken via head to head record. if ties can't be broken in this manner the higher seed will be determined by a h2h matchup (ffa if more than 2 are tied). all ties in which to lower seed does not make the playoff will be determined by h2h or ffa play.
participation is open to all board members, regardless of statis in other tourney brackets. all i ask is that entrants effort to complete matches asap.
any and all disputes will be mediated by the tourney host (me in this case).

If you are wondering yes I copied this from the first one Dan set up This will be my first time mediating a tourney so please be a little lenient if I screw up on a few of the details Would like to have this done within a month if possible, if you are busy or have plans just let us know ahead of time so we can possibly try to get our games in ASAP. Ohh, and one more thing, just want to make sure everyone remembers if Mawpawk enters save your Zulu's and Aztecs for him ♥

Got a better idea if someone wants to they can start another 8 player round robin tourney. We will play out each bracket on its own and then the two winners of the 8 man bracket will face off in a best of 10! Like the Super bowl of 8 man tourneys, well sort of

Hindsight's so annoying isnt it....if we had established this rule beforehand the winner would be playing prey for the super bowl of 8 man tourneys....

Game 1 vs MawPawk

My Zulu vs his Aztec

I walk 5 turns b/c I can't find a tree. This blocks off MawPawk on a peninsula. There is a barb between us. He already has horses out. I take Japan with a warrior army and a few huts. He galley drops my cap (pretty much knew I was losing it to that or horses) but I had 100 g so I knew it would be a hard fought game.

It's pretty even and then I find AW for fundy and the tides turn. But then a barb attacks my city .5 to 1 and of course it wins so my 100g city is gone. But I manage to take Egypt and China with a fundy HA and 2 fundy impi armies. Maw fights back for china and takes it, but with fundy I have enough firepower to take it back. I had gotten the AoC right after AW and my first GP was a artist to flip back my original cap.

GG MawPawk, I thought you had me.

AW really saved my ass, I doubt I will have that close of a game in our next...

2nd game vs Mawpawk his Mongols vs my Egypt Oracle (Broken)

I lose my first warior .67 to .5 agaist a barb. Thanks Oracle. That really slows me down big. He takes Japs and Arabs for fundy. Yikes. At that point I think I had about a 5% chance of winning but I stuck it out. I took India very very late. I ended up dropping a HA and taking one of his barb cities to get fundy. So now it's a game again (kinda). We fight for a bit and I use a GA to flip his HA and make him spend some gold. I start expanding and teching up. Then, out of nowhere he comes with a knight army at 8 techs. My legions lose 9 to 12 (just under 50/50 battle if my odds are correct) and he takes my cities. If I win the legion vs knight battle I think I win as I had my own knights and could have defended. Oh well, well played on both sides I think. GG MawPawk.

Lost 2 vs denied. no chance for me to win either one. First game his Russians vs my Germans. He gets walk in on Spain, early HA to my cap. Attacks my archer 9 to 5, no injury. My WA loses again his HA.

Next his Romans vs my Russia. He gets AW for fundy, 7 cities, cap. I get a Mongol barb city. I could have had a 6vs6 against his HA in Thebes the turn he took it but of course Thebes grows that turn and culture pushes me 3 tiles away. Of course.

Well I played 2 V.S. Duke and both games were kind of over before they started. My Russia V.S. his Germans, I move and get HBR from friendly with no gold hammer out a horsemen at 3400 and Spain shows up right next to me. I kill Spain's warrior from a hill 3-1.5 then take Madrid next turn for Nav. I come with a vet HA. He takes out America and builds a road to Berlin. He gets BW from them. I attack 9-4 and take Berlin not getting injured. He attacks 4.5-6 to try to take cap back but loses so he quits. He also got pottery from his first hut which definitely hindered his chances...

My Rome V.S. his Russians. I move for like 5 turns and get a friendly for 25. I settle next to ox 2 water and 2 trees. I rush warrior to take a barb 2 turns away and tech HBR. I get 40 and take another barb closer to duke. He settled right where I started. I take that barb for another 40 I believe. I get another friendly and it shows me AW. I rush a boat to get it. I switch to fundy and go for Egypt to the south of me. A few turns later I find 7cog and he calls it. GG's sorry they weren't to much fun for you

Meh, I had 2 fun games against MawPawk. In the world of civ, 50% fun games is a very good percentage.

Me V.S Digital

In our French V.S. Indian rematch I got a horrible start with alphabet for my first barb. I take out Mongols and he takes out russians I get 50 gold from a barb later but it is to late. I can't defend so I call it.


Second game my Indians V.S. his French. I settle next to rubber and nothing else. I get a lot of gold and get a vet HA up at 2900. I end up taking out Rome for Alphabet, and I tried buying all the tech Digital was selling to them so I would get COL. I take out aztecs with another HA and that just leaves him and Germans. Germans are at the end of a peninsula I take their 100 g city in one turn and try to take their cap. I keep attacking in fundy with blitz and they somehow continue to have units. I see a GB pop up in their city so I decide to tech Writing and build a spy to take it since I realize I can take their cap whenever I want. My first GP was a scientist which I used on Monarchy. I walk GB back to my cap and build Sam Castle. I get a GL from Monarchy and I settle it in Delhi to make upgraded knights. I take Berlin which gives me 4/5 caps. I take a nice city of his with 2 fish and a library and it has a road connecting it to Paris. He GB's EITC. He takes an unimportant city from me with a Galleon fleet and a single catapult. So I build a march/blitz KA and leave it behind in case he decides to go for my important 100g city. Well the game freezes on him and when he came back the AI had sold his Galleon fleet which freaking sucked so he called it. I would give him a rematch but since I had 4 caps and was pretty sure I could take Paris with a few upgraded KA's and I don't really think that would be fair. He agreed that I should have the win but was very upset about the resynch and getting screwed over by the freeze. I completely agree and I'm sorry that happened I wanted to play it out it would've been epic either way. GG's...

Two quick games with Dan and he couldn't have done anything differently. First Greeks V.S. his Japs. He walks into me at 3900 and I settle. Apparently we were at the end of a peninsula and I was going to get the only barb so he called it.

My Japs V.S his Russians. I get walk in on india and end up taking Athens with Infiltration HA and get Demo. I steal a GB that settled when he took out Americans so he called it. I was about to have 4 cathedrals due to AoC in a few turns so the GB really didn't change the huge lead I had it just made it insurmountable... GG's sort of

, pretty gd start for multi as he found KT on the mainland 3600? and i didnt find a barb till 3100bc , but i did kill his KT and take a 4pop thebes, he also found angor, and built the GW but luckily for me he couldnt resist attacking and gave me a chance 2 take 2 of his cities, he called it quits after i killed his horsearmy

my russians vs arabs, multi realizes hes on an island at 3300bc but gets happier when the barbs tell him where 7cog is, i get happier than that when my barb given galley takes the golden pyrimad for the win.
