    Possible save game or GPU issue not sure...

    Hello and thanks in advance for any help you can give, and pardon the wall of diagnostic text below....

    Basically I can start and play games just fine. Civ 5 runs in both Dx9 and Dx10/11 modes. My problem starts when I get later into a game and try to load a save file. I cant be sure at what point it happens but as I progress through a game the later and later it gets the longer I wait in the "Loading" civ splash screen until at some point it just sits in that screen forever (longest wait I did was to let it ride for over an hour).

    When I CAD out it says the game is "not responding" and I get this event description-

    Problem Event Name: AppHangB1

    I have tried multiple fixes including the usual, run dxdiag, dxsetup, C++, driver checks, steam updates, and so forth. I will post below the dxdiagnostic but its huge so pardon the size.

    Basically I believe it may either be the size of the saved games and some sort of issue there, or a GPU dirver problem for my Radeon 6990 thats specific to Civ V, or a combination. I have checked every other piece of hardware and at this point I am pulling my hair out. I have played many other games with this rig including Civ IV, Skyrim, CoH, CoD, Crysis 2, Minecraft, WoW, Sins, Shogun, Fallout 3's, you name it...hell even a little Diablo 2 for kicks lately....all of them blaze on this vid card and have no issues.

    My problems are only recent though as I didn't have these same issues before the latest 12 drivers in combination with the latest Civ patch. I did try rolling back the drivers but that didnt solve the problem, in fact it created more problems including blue screens (again just for Civ). I reloaded Civ, multiple times. Both from CD load to downloading off Steam. Same issue. I am pretty much at my wits end. Please help.

    Below is the wall of text for dxdiag....

    *edit* for some reason its not letting me post something so big....so I will try to edit the info in a post below

    Btw....

    I was poking around, but not changing anything and looked into the system_init file.

    I noticed this line at the very bottom...
    [6330.816] DBG: SystemInit: LoadGameState_TOTAL(): 19936 Milliseconds

    Is this a limit on how long you can remain in the loading screen state (basically 19 seconds)?

    I know next to nothing about programming so forgive any misunderstanding of how the ini stuff works.

    *edit* nevermind, just figured out it was a log not a limit. My bad =)

    When you rolled back, did you completely uninstall the drivers and AMD/ATI software, before installing an older 11.x driver?
