    Favourite Unique Type?

What's your favourite unique type? I'd be interested to see if I'm in the minority with liking UBs, since the devs seem to love UUs.

    Quoting RideASpaceCowboy:
For those requiring an explanation of the abbreviations...

    UU: Unique unit

    UB: Unique building

    UI: Unique improvement
For the record, I voted UI/UB. I like long term benefits.

I prefer civs with a UB as well. I think it's pretty balanced between UUs and UBs, though. Checking a wiki there are 12 civs with two UUs, 11 civs with a UB, and 2 with a UI. I think we only know about UUs for G&K, though...

I like UBs too. Too few UIs to have a good opinion on them. I like Terrace Farms but not Polynesia's UI.

Of course, one could make the case that every civ does have at least one UU, so there's three times as many UUs than UBs in the game if the second unique is evenly split.

I wonder if we'll ever see any civs with two UBs or a UB and a UI?

Sorry the poll took so long to get up. I'm multi-tasking like mad, right now .

I went UB/UI. There aren't any teams with UI/UB, or two of either of them. They all have one UU. No UBs confirmed yet for G&K either.

Yeah, that's what I meant. I'd LOVE to see the Anasazi included with two UBs .

I wish this poll had been multiple choice. I like UUs with promotions because I like micromanaging a small number of elite units. I also like UIs because they feel more differentiating than plain old UUs, make me feel more immersed.

UUs are generally only useful during a specific time period, which means "a narrow window of opportunity".

Win or lose, though? UBs and UIs are typically useful throughout history, from the moment you get them right up to the Game Over screen.

Thus ... UUs I don't care one whit about, but UBs and UIs I love.

Wow, seems like overwhelming agreement among posters/voters that long term benefits are most popular. Shocking...based on the way the game is designed, I always assumed I was weird for liking UBs.

    There was a UU/UI option.

I voted "none" because my real preference isn't really about type. I don't like uniques that are useless half the time due to randomization on a standard map. I'm especially wary of any UU that requires iron, because good luck capturing some if you didn't get it... the folks who did have swords and catapults, and you don't.

UI's are usually strongly supported by start biases, which makes them less problematic despite strict terrain requirements. UB's are pretty much always useful. Because of this, if you went down the list and asked me which uniques I like, you'd probably see UBs coming out on top. But it's not because of what they are, it's because I never have to play through a game as if I didn't even have them.

Wow not a single vote for units; I voted for UI, but by accident. Wanted to vote for UI and/or UBs.

The late UUs can last till the end of the game, maybe not as good as the upgraded version but you can still build them. Panzer tanks and B-17s are still fairly good and if you have lots of oil and few aluminum.

I picked UIs, just because they tend to have the biggest impact on play style, for me.

Games being over before you get modern UU's is not actually a problem with the UU's. (In that same vein, better distribution or more appropriate start biases for Iron would solve the issue I mentioned earlier.)

I'll take whatever comes so long as its useful. Keshik and B-17's kick copious amounts of ass, the Satrap's Court and Paper Makers are must-haves, and Terrace Farms are cool and Polders should be VERY cool. On the other hand, War Elephants are a piece of crap, Walls of Babylon aren't anything special, and Moai aren't always worth it.

  19. Good idea for a poll, I must say! Definitely "UU or UI - I like to see my uniques graphically". I can't wait for a BAT mod to be completed for Civ 5. I really hope that Civ 6 has completely differentiated (graphically) civilizations, down to the units.

Seems like a lot of work, but those little details mean the world to gamers. I agree that it would really make the civs feel more unique.

I like the UA addition in Civ 5. For Civ 6 I'd like fewer civs (just hit the major ones inittialy, like Greece, Rome, and Egypt) with a ton of unique traits. Might be a little tough to balance, but it would really diversify the gameplay.

The none option kind of covers all of the above.

Waves of panzers are so much fun. Mind you, B-17s upgraded to stealths are also good.

'course, I just like blowin stuff up too, so I just *might* be biased.

    Quick - Standard; UB
    Epic; Any of them
