Come see XCOM Enemy Unknown at PAX, or watch our live stream from the show

    Hey guys,

In case you hadn't heard, we're showing off lots of our games, including XCOM Enemy Unknown at PAX East starting tomorrow.

So if you want to see XCOM for yourself, look for the big geoscape hanging from the ceiling and make a beeline for it:

Feel free to ask for Greg if you'd like to say hi as well

Perhaps even better is the fact that we are live streaming the entire show, including dev interviews and direct feeds of all of our games. It's the next best thing to actually being at PAX. Tune in here, where you can also see the full schedule: http://twitch.tv/2K

Will some of the streams be recorded and available for later viewing, specifically Sunday afternoon's "XCOM:Enemy Unknown coverage"?

I so wish I could be there

I hope there is lots of awesome coverage of this game. Also I don't know if this is too last minute but, with the developer interviews for the love of god just drop the whole ammunition and TU conversations. Please ask them about (or better, SHOW!) new mechanics like how the diplomatic missions from other countries and interception work. New information please!

They're showing... the exact same hands-off demo again?

Interview with Garth done, not much new.
    • Exclusive choice missions (you can't do them all)
    • "Panic-meters" for countries, he did not say if they were visible in-game though.

Was it a hands-on or hands-off demo on PAX? Garth said something about showing a bit of the rest of the game (Geoscape, base, engineering), I don't know if they will reveal Interception though.

Garth didn't say anything about hands-on or hands-off, but if it weren't the same demo they'd be silly to have the same map (or a very similar, what with a gas station being involved).

They showed "a bit of the rest of the game " before as well, and that included 'peeks at each of the rooms' of the antfarm. That video they tried to play and that played on one of the screens on the outside of the xcom booth.. same as we've seen on youtube already.

So far a big disappointment for me, but maybe there is new video to be had later on and those panels might answer new questions, who knows.

He mentioned the Developers were guiding people through so sounds hands off, live Geoscape and base feed would be good but nothing we haven't seen in pictures. Bit of a let down really.

Most of the new info will hopefully be shown tomorrow. Lots of interviews - more focus to XCOM specifically

Yes, there was some discrepancy between he 2KBlog and Twitch schedules. Seems we wont see Greg, Liam and Jake until tomorrow.

Just asked Elizabeth on the live feed and she says Sunday will be when most of the info is released.

That was definitely a "We recorded the demo this morning" right now. Good good. The worst case scenario I can think of right now is: Even if it's the same demo at least the comments should be new.

edit: "What you will see of XCOM is the entire demo that is playing in the theater". Which is...?

Ok, Im going to need a transcript of what was said on Xcom so far - I step away from my PC for an hour and apparently I did so at the wrong time.

Can anyone reiterate anything that was revealed that might be of interest?

From the itinerary it doesn't look like Xcom has taken center stage yet, it looks like tomorrow (sunday) should be the good stuff? :
3 - 4 PM - XCOM: Enemy Unknown coverage, including replays of interviews, gameplay, and more!

There was just a conversation between Soloman and someone else (I believe he was a level designer? Sorry, my memory is crud)

The main thing that I picked out is that there are two kinds of UI: simplified and "German Mode" which is apparently very much like the original UI. I don't know if that has already been talked about or not.

Yeah, I smiled when the "German mode" was mentioned. Of course, I'll have to use it.

I guess it might be related the board gaming world... where German companies and gamers are famous for their love of 'crunchy' games.

I saw the stream. They showed a train level, lots of action looked fun.

They also had a big presentation comparing the 1994 UFO with the 2012 X-COM. I'd love to see those slides closer - any chance of posting the presentation?

Where the heck was the train level? All I saw was the petrol station level and some bits about the base.

I posted a link to a gamespy video, but my post was deleted. Not sure why, reviewing the forum rules now. It's pretty easy to find if you search for it.

It's because your account is relatively new. The system catches pretty much anyone under a certain number of posts for posting links to prevent spambots. I've fixed the post now.

Playing as the aliens ? That could be a very interesting novelty for the franchise! The way the devs evaded the question, I see that as a "yes, it's there but we can't talk about it right now" otherwise, they would just have said "no, you can't", don't you think?
It's a great addition but I wouldn't try it until after I win the game with the X-Coms. It could be great to have the option disabled untill you've actually completed the game!
