H2H African Cup Tournament

Civs: - Zulu, Arabs & Egyptians.

You will play each opponent 3 times using each civ once. 1 point awarded per win.

Top 4 point leaders will progress to semi finals. 1st v 4th and 2nd v 3rd. Best of 5 moves to finals for a further best of 5.

Usual tourney rules apply – no oxford, no glitching.

Post here to sign up.

Will leave sign up open for a few days. Games should be played before the end of April when it will move to the semi finals. If you haven't played enough, your results will be deleted.

Game 1 Egypt Mirror

Scottie starts fast not only taking Kyoto at 3600 but taking my 100g settlers then moving on to attack Spain....after defending my cap I scrounged up a HA and ended up getting it to blitz....after winning 4/5 50 50 battles I got the win

Game 2 Zulu Mirror

Lots of luck here. First hut showed me 7CoG on my mainland. 20 turns later scottie had gotten SoC but I had taken india and 10 barbs so he withdrew....

Game 3 Arab Mirror

We both started fast....I had the advantage though I think...he got china but I got England/monarchy both by 3500....he caught me nappin with a nice double step but I had gold and was able to defend his WA....then horse....then HA and he withdrew....ggs scottie

Zulu game i was on an island. I had nothing and no chance of getting anything.
arab game i should have won.. i just splayed it badly. egypt game i should have won - got unlucky.... but griz played it right. if id just got 25g from an ai it would have been over...

slowish start for both of us but i end up geting 2 big ai caps compared 2 dans 1 and get col quickish for a little city spam and hit irragatio + a GH for some big size cities which let me rule the world, dan did drop off a cat army and other bits but the 1 city he was tryna attck had a 4 archers a WA and a cat army inside 4 the win

i hit 7cog early plus a walkin on the arabs for religion, it was gd 2 see that dan didnnt quit right there and even staged an attck gd play but the elements of money+power won the game in the end 4 me

it looked gd for me but turned against me when grizzs warrior army nearlt took my empty city, i had teched BW first so managed 2 make a game of it but grizz took out england and fast tracked 2 col i gota say it was close but i made a crucial mistake in my city and allowed him 2 overun with his infiltrate knights and lost thebes and the game.

I just got one in with dan....his zulu vs my egypt/oracle.....I settler rush an ai....no tec.....get decent gold early and beat him to CoL....used a GS on Feud 800bc....he found GW so I just took out all the ai while I teched engineering.....he tried to get me late with some LA CA and WA AA combos but my knights and pikes were too much....gg dan....

Right well here we go for an update on all the games I played yesterday. I won’t put down every last detail as there were 9 games in total and I’d be here forever!!

First game vs BladesofDrizz Egypt versus Egypt. He settles first turn and gets HGB in some healthy desert. I get a hut which has spice under it and settle next turn with COR. I spit about 4 warriors out and tech BW. We both get our 100g about the same time but now I’ve grown to three my tech advantage is huge.

I see Rome in the game so know there will be no TP but knew I wasn;t going to need it. Teched Col anyway and then currency and Maths. Got a super quick cat army to him which made him waste his GB on the GW. I get GL from monarchy and get an elite knight army down there with blitz/inf/march as I tech engineering. BoD calls it. COR too good.

Second game is zulu vs zulu. I move south and settle next to a barb with two trees. Get a galley from the barb but SOC is otherside of me. I have to sell it anyway to try and defend. He got more gold early and won a button race to take my cap.

Third game is Arab vs Arab. I move the wrong way so just settle two tree two water and get HBR. I threaten Greece to try and get some money but they would only offer me democracy so I took it. Get the HA out and show it Drizz by killing a warrior that came my way. It looks like choke city towards him so I backed off and built a galley. Snook around the back and took his second city attacking from a boat. He attacks back with single horse but I’m on a hill, he loses and I get GG. While this was all going on and he was building a force to take his cities back I sneaked a horse all the way around the mountain and attacked his cap with it to give me the win.

First game against multi I was zulu and overran the map with impis taking cities left right and centre. One was Rome so I just expanded everywhere and he called it.

Second game I was Egypt versus Arab and had walked forever to get off a peninsula and needed at least HGB to be competitive where I eventually settled. I got Stonehenge and he was already on me so took Thebes.

Third game was my arab versus his zulu. He started on a large island but was adamant he wanted to continue even though I had an island start first game and he let me restart. He got his 100g quick but I had the map with horses everywhere taking down Rome & Karakoun. Switched to republic and built cities everywhere and then got 7cog so multi called it after trying a 60 second attack 4.5 versus 5 and lost.

First game against Dan I was zulu against his Egypt. I get lots of early gold and get two impi armies onto his taken Berlin in no time. I take berlin and then settle both armies on his COR deserts whilst pumping out more impis/settlers. He calls it no too long after.

Second game is my Egypt versus his Arabs. I get HGB start on three deserts after taking a friendly. I rush warrior and tech hbr. Get 50 gold and get HA out super quick. Dan wasn’t ready for it and quit.

Third game I get an island start as the Arabs. He offered me restart but I declined as Multi did it for me so I figured it was swings and roundabouts. There is only one barb which gives me 40g so I sold both warriors and teched BW (I had fish) then grew to 3 and worked gold for 5 turns as I named a tile too. This was a slow process but I get my 100g settler and rush settlers from Tripoli. I put one of the settlers on a boat which finds a double fish/whale/dye single tile so I set it there and get the other on another fish spot.

Meanwhile Dan has take out India and Aztecs but his tech is still at 1 whereas I’m now at 4. I plough for irrigation as by the time I get it, it would make every city 4 pop. Trip is also on whale so I use my GS on navigation and start pestering him to the south with it keeping him busy/building defences. I expand to about 8 cities and get the barracks in Trip. Build a cat army and knight army and put on a gall fleet. I go searching for other cities as he has fortified impis everywhere which would easily injure the knights leaving easy counters.

I find one to the east whilst meanwhile he flips that little island city I had!! How did he find that??? I have a GA from monarchy but it only offers me crappy lombada so I build another galleon and take it back with another cat army. We both get to democracy but then I land all my units next to delhi and switch to fundi when he quits.

That was a lot of games for me to play in a tourney in one night but quietly happy with the results!! I guess my rift with Civ Rev didn’t last that long!! ;-)

btw president is annoying....I friended him last night and he was like who are you and I told him and he ignored me....asked him if he wanted to play...ignored....asked him if he still cared about the tourney cuz we have been playing....ignored.....he was online and got my messages...responded to the first but ignored me once I told him who I was and asked him to play.....he was playing skyrim the whole time.....I dont have the time to play somebody who doesnt even have the common courtesy to respond and say not now.....

I must have mizxed up that game description with another as youve noticed Ive played 15 games already so some of them ran together. After putting my thinking cap on it was like this...all I did was recopy gm 1 as gm 2

gm 1 was my egypt beating his zulu like i said

gm 2 was my zulu beating his arab

gm 3 was his egypt beating my arab....

sorry for the confusion league masta.....but I earned both those wins without repeat civs....besides if he double zulu'd me he would have the advantage not me so I say I woulda still earned them!!

Damn, Damn, Daaaaaaamnnnn! That Zulu vs Zulu should have panned out differently. I rush a warrior and it was rushed but somehow... somehow Grizzley gets the walk in. I just don't have walk-ins from another Zulu vs me... truly mad about that!
