My Germans beat Points English. His Germans beat my English. Had a lot of uneven battles but the one that changed the game was a 31.5 to 27 that I lost as English. I wouldv'e taken three of his cities with EITC and gotten the last cap. But because he won that he was able to move his tank armies over to the island which was not good for me... He was also able to find all the wonders including LCOA that let him GS combustion on same turn... One turn later I might have taken it... I got fundy really early but he was 30 + turns away from me so I couldn't find him in time. Germans are the worst civ to let survive and I figured you had a GS waiting but you were right next to LCOA that was why you were able to GS combustion. Don't know why but I couldn't back fill mathematics even though I was doing 190 science a turn... GG

Indians lost to his Japanese. My HA got injured 9-4 then 9-1.5. I attacked from a hill 12-15 after healing both times and had his AA down to 2 archers then it comes back and kills four of my horses. I tried to comeback but it was impossible after losing so much gold so early...

My Japs beat his Indians. My Egyptians lost to his Romans. I had an early walk in on him but the game likes to glitch. I walked into his empty cap but right when I stepped in a warrior popped out of nowhere and defended 1.5-1. I was way ahead but he got a 2nd GP some how and was able to gs combustion and gb leonardo on same turn. I had rifleman but they couldn't stop his fundy tanks. My Cannon army lost to his tank 27-27 which hurt as well. I went into fundy to try to take all 5 caps with 3 CA's and AA and a HA with a cruiser fleet but he had 2 GP saved up so his legions would turn into tanks so it didn't matter. Had I stayed in demo I would've had Mass production already so his TA's would've been useless. I got 2 artists a humanitarian, a gb and a scientist. He got a GB and a scientist I guess he must of stole one from Madrid. Unfortunately I took the advice to be aggressive which was the biggest mistake I made in this game. I GB'd EITC and was doing 244 tech pert turn in demo. I easily could've out teched him but I choose to attack. Change one of those humanitarians or artists for a scientist I would've won that game. Also the map was situated in a sickle shape and he was right in the middle. I had to go all the way around the map with my cruiser fleet just to reach him about 5-10 turns away. I love how he can walk into my cap when I have gold and rush a warrior but I can't walk into his in the same situation in 1/10 of a second. This game is really freaking random. Ohh well gg...

Yeah I don't know how denied lost that game, He had collosus on first turn, had me boxed in with a horse army. And he needs to work on his button race skills, but i rushed my warrior hellah fast while he was allready at war. He should have won there alone. How I beat him is kind of funny. At 7 techs i steal a greater scientist from the spanish. Most people would use that to get Invention to shut down the collosus right? yeah well i'm not like 99 percnet of those scrubs that would do that, I heald on to that scientist. At 500 gold mark since i stopped to get gold after i blizted democracy, i got a great builder. THis was after he had allready build east india and was at like 18-19 techs when i was at like 8 or 9 still. I'm not going to detail exactly what I did because I don't wanna give away my way of playing. But i built 2 legions a turn while i teched up to Scientist COmbustion, build leondards, then proceeded to Rofol Stomped denieds collosus start. Kind of like my German game i beat him in. No way I should have won, but his lack of experience at this game proved his downfall yet again. Stealing Defeat from the jaws of Victory as my dad would say. Hopefully he'll have better luck next year.

Your connection blows thats why dumb ass, theres no way I could lose that walk in anyways. I had 3 desert squares so CoR didn't do a whole lot of damage... In the game you walked in on me my warrior popped up and I spent the gold yet you get a walk in? STOP STEALING YOUR INTERNET LOSER!

Congrats Point - First tourney and you're into the champions group. ITZ, no doubt you'll keep trying.

Just out of interest - I don't think i've ever seen so many 'forum' games go to combustion/leo's etc. as with Point/ITZ/Multi - Do you think this is more to do with your FFA style of play? Is it more defence based early?

ITZ - seems you had a healthy tech lead, can I ask what your plan was as opposed to not switching to gold and going in with catapults/knights whatever? - I notice you say getting aggressive was a mistake, but why are you waiting till he is able to GS combustion?

Im just glad this one is over Im tired of listening to all the garbage. You both act like children. I cant even respect the winner of this bracket because every one of his write-ups are saturated with insults towards his oppenent. I guess good sportsmanship is dead. Healthy trash talk is one thing but you guys just take it to low blows and insults.

The play was exciting, 3-2 was a nice end to things especially with the length of all the games. It's nice to see two players go even up for the most part.

It's funny you say that when you almost lost the whole bracket to him.......winning with pride and cordiality is just as important as not being a sore loser..........3-2 is a close call......anyways.....GGS to point, dont bring that mess to the finals though......

Probably a tech victory I'm not sure... Honestly when I'm at that point usually I can just cruise or the other player will quit, but I kept hearing people saying I needed to be agressive even though in my English V.S. his German game there was nothing more I could do to be aggressive unless I knew exactly where he was at, and even then it would've taken me forever to get to him. He teched jumped very fast in that game I expected to be at his cap and to have taken all 4 of the other caps before he got gunpowder. But the map was situated perfectly for him so I couldn't touch him with my naval support. Had I just teched up I would've had atomic theory already and been half way through nuclear power and his TA's would've lost to my MI armies... I think FFA does influence our play a bit... But point has pretty much the same strategy every game. Get a couple bank islands before he hits 13 tech so he can build whatever he needs... Because I got nuked the last game we went to modern I was fearful of a repeat experience especially since he was Romans so I choose to try to attack... Live and learn, they were fun games though, except for the glitched walk ins

I prefer to have odds stacked in my favor as much as possible, I think maybe I have had more bad experiences with trying to attack with a couple fundy KA's and failed. I have had way better experiences just teching up to Mass with both money techs and letting it play out from there. Thats why when I'm Germans I usually build twice as many armies than most people do... I thought my best shot was with Cruisers in this last game so thats what I went for, I knew my best shot was cruisers in the English game unfortunately I lost a crucial battle at the wrong time... I'm pretty sure I would've gotten first tech victory that last game as long as I got Manhattan before he did.

Think how many knight armies you could have built for the proce of that cruiser fleet!? I know I'd rather have 5 KA's in fundi attacking in one turn than 2 with cruiser fleet support. Especially when you knew how difficult it was going to be to get round to him.

That GB would of been better served on Sam Castle than EIC imo.

I find it interesting how our new wave of players play much longer games than us old schoolers. I can't remember the last game I had that went to tanks, much less a non dom victory.

You are probably right, but the way I rationalize it is I think about what will get you farther in a game. Sam Castle or EITC. Sam Castle is great but you have to take the caps very quickly. I could've taken a couple of his cities probably, but I wouldn't have gotten to the AI they were way to far away...

what i always miss there is you can have your cake and eat it too. with a good set of cities how long would it take to work gold and rush the sam castle in a production city?
