New to the game

My friends and I are trying to find a great game that we can play on a daily basis that we can react with eachother like we do on the facebook game "Kingdoms of Camelot". I saw Civilization and was wondering if this games online play is any good? I would appreciate any type of feedback....thanks. (there will be 5 - 10 of us playing)

You can also take a look at www.AwesoMeCiv.com for videos of multiplayer play and the multiplayer guide gives a good description of two leagues you might want to bring your friends and play.

Honestly, not at the moment. MP still has a lot of problems. Hopefully, these will be addressed with the upcoming expansion. I'd wait and see the community response then before investing in Civ V MP for 5-10 people. Also, you said you like facebook style games. Pitboss is not currently implemented (although it has been promised and I think we'll probably see it around the same time as the expansion as well). A Pitboss style MP game would probably give the closest approximation to play when you sign in style of game you see on facebook.

I was being honest...I should have noted for 10 people it is unplayable. For 6 players at a time it runs pretty smoothly. 6 is what u get usually from 5-10 people. I saw civ 5 on sale for $7.50 the other day. Its worth the investment as long as if you are a serious player you play in one of the leagues. If you just want to have fun public games can be fun but there is a high chance you get a leaver. But if you have 6 good friends playing together you shouldnt' have any trouble having a good game. Whether you would like a non-pitboss game is another matter.

I was being honest..

I didn't mean to imply your answer wasn't honest. I was simply saying, in my own opinion, honestly the best thing to do at the moment is wait and see how things change with the expansion before investing in that many people. He said he and his friends were coming off facebook games, which leads me to believe he's more casual and not into league play. In this regard, he might be more affected by things like the lack of MP animations than most. As MP animations were one of the additions being back ported from the expansion code, a casual player is probably better off waiting till that release and then judging MP rather than dismissing all of it at the moment because of the lack of aesthetic features like MP animations.

Also, as Bantams pointed out, there is a Civ facebook game he should check out.
