    Installation with steam.

Yeah, so I've installed Steam, and now I have NO CLUE what to do. I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope that you don't have to use this piece of crap program to DOWNLOAD the game I THOUGHT I just paid 30 dollars for. If that is the case I am screwed because I'm using BROADBAND. So I'm just wondering, I have steam installed, I made a steam account, it went through its little steam update, now what, because, as the little crappy booklet you 2K provided says the "prompts" have STOPPED. So what do I do after installing steam in order to play this game???

Maybe if you told us a bit more about what you are doing, we can help. Are you installing from a disk or did you buy on-line? Steam works fine and if its new to you, then take the time to learn how things are done.

If from a disk then it autoruns and you should end up with an icon to click after going through the Steam account set up, code entry, game file loading etc. If you bought on Steam the game should download and your game will be registered in your Steam library. There is a Steam menu item to create a desktop shortcut or you can start from Steam. If you have a game showing in your Steam libray but can't start it, you can verify your game files. And if you did load from a disk, you can still use Steam for the icon and for fiel verification.

Maybe need to remember that there are that there are many, many, many installs of this game so your problem is pretty much just about getting you up to speed. Worst case, delete eveyrthing and start over, your Steam account will all be set up this time as long as you have the user name and password.

Even installing from the disk, yes you will have to download a fair bit of the game. Patches at least; I can't recall for certain if I had to do any downloading after using my own disk to install (it was 18 months ago, after all).

However, you will not have to spend any additional money. Nor will you need to use the disk every again - you can, literally, throw it away. Steam will let you uninstall, then re-download/re-install, an unlimited number of times.

Um, yes? So are almost everyone in the world. Now, ifyou were using Dialup, that would be a problem.

What's your download speed? Even at only 3MBits/sec, it shouldn't take more than a couple hours. Set it to download, then go to work / school / make out with your significant other / church / whatever. It'll be ready when you get back.

I'll need more information, much as Oblio describes, in order to answer this question.
