    IGN Video

At :30 it shows the grenade targeting. It reminds me a little bit of Peggle! Would like to see interaction with a vertical surface at an angle, maybe we can finally bounce grenades around corners.

Seems to be mostly stuff we've seen before, including the grenades, I'm pretty sure.

I certainly hope we have some kind of bounce mechanic, and the game doesn't just block attampts to throw "through" walls.

I don't think there's much physics involved, if you watch carefully the grenade goes through the front window of the car then magically re-appears on the bonnet.

yes, the physics looks limitated but I see no problem wih this. This is not the moes important thing.

The only thing that Im really afraid of is the maps. They are limitated, that does not make sense since it is a global scale ambient game.

I hope when they said obscene amount of maps they mean some like 100 or more.

Or simply releasing a editor for us.

Well, you could easily log a hundred or two hundred combats in a game in the original, so from the estimates we've heard, I'd say we have a good 200 or more maps available if we're unlikely to see repeats until our third game.

Grenades are a HUGE part of xcom and the ability to throw them up and over (z levels) was amazing.

I loved throwing grenades into the holes of a downed ship - I hope that's still in the game.

This is actually a huge problem, it means game is being developed for decrepit 7 year old console hardware instead of being developed for PC and then downgraded to consoles, like Witcher 2.

I'm all for PC as well, but please don't start a console war here. The dev's and mods really don't like that.

There is no such thing as console war, like there is no such thing as creationism debate, or global warming debate, or does such an impossible creature as god exist debate, they are all denialisms based on faulty reasoning and ignorance.

Get back on topic, and as there is a warning at the top of the forum to not engage in console wars I'd really like people to abide by it. Thanks.

Not every game needs a physics engine. Games with comprehensive rulesets (like X-Com), where your skill/RNG determines where a bullet or a grenade lands, physics are actually hindering said ruleset. It'll also cut down on the number of bugs player will see.

So this isn't a bad thing necessarily. The entitlement mentality of "every modern game needs THIS and THAT" is why we end up with stupid high requirements.

it would be nice to be able to see what's possible for grenade or light pack throws instead of the frustrating "click on a hex... nope can't throw there... click on a hex.... nope can't throw there..." in the original game...

showing the trajectory of the object, helps show if there's anything it could accidentally bounce off of and land on one of your guys instead...

That's a very good idea James. You should put it in the wish list thread.

It already exists in the game. In one of the vids there's a arching line with a radius circle.

Thank God for that. That 'no line of fire', or 'Can't throw here' was so infuriating!
