H2H Round Robin Tournament - 2012 Group 5 of 6
This Tournament is for Xbox only.

Rules

1. This tournament will be conducted in a round robin format. Each player will play two games against each other player in this group for a total of 10 qualifying games. A win is worth 1 point. A loss is worth 0 points. After all qualifying games have been completed, the top two point leaders will advance to the finals. A best of 5 series will determine the winner of this group. The winner will advance to the Championship H2H Round Robin Tournament, a group consisting of all 6 previous or eventual group winners.

Any round robin tie will be broken based upon the H2H records against one another. In the event of a 1-1 split, another game will be played to determine the winner. In the event of a 3+ way tie for the 2nd qualifying spot, one FFA match will decide who advances. In the event of a 3+ way tie for the top qualifying spot, a FFA game will decide the top seed. Another game (FFA or H2H) with the remaining players (not the first FFA winner) will decide the 2nd seed. These games will be considered “finals” and therefore civ selection is deducted from the advancing player's remaining civs. Example – If India is used in a tiebreaker game, that player may not use India in the 5 match finals series. See number 2 below for more information.

2. No power or semi-power civs may be used (Americans, Arabs, Aztecs, Chinese, Spanish, Zulu). The following is a list of the ten allowed civilizations: Egyptians, English, Germans, Greeks, Indians, Japanese, Mongols, French, Romans, and Russians. Each civ must be played once in qualifying. Civ selection is reset for the finals series.

3. No Adar.

4. No democracy glitching. All peace requests must be accepted. All Great Wall requests must be accepted ONLY IF the player with the Great Wall has not attacked that turn. If the player with the GW attacks, he must wait until the following turn to send peace. Please play nice guys.

5. No pause glitching.

6. Players alternate hosts.

7. There is no set schedule on who to play. Please organize your games on this thread or through PM or XBL messages. Please try to complete all games in a reasonable time frame.

8. Rules are subject to modification up to when the first match has started.

9. You may not build the Oxford University wonder. Getting it from Angkor Wat is fine.

To be accepted to the tournament you must confirm you can play a reasonable amount of games quickly and be available at a variety of times (to allow sheduling with players around the world) - we cant' have people signing up then playing no games for a month.

Are we talking about JackOneill or Jackofallcivs.......JackOneill is a cool dude....and hes my boy.....but hes busy as hell and if its been over a month then you might as well call it.....I know he wouldnt want to derail a tournament hes too cool of a dude.....

Got things started with SRR today. I won both. SRR hosted first game and we went blind civs.

Game 1: SRR Mongolia, Digital: Russia
I walk 3 turns find a friendly (not in my area map) and on first step of 4th turn see boarders of greeks and take them out at 3500, SRR is still walking. he runs into german warrior and has to run away with no gold found. after SRR tells me the germans are in the game the germans were kind enough to walk a caravan right next to my warrior and I take it and put it in their cap. 2 turns later the Egyptians do the same thing. SRR is still walking at 3000, I have my 100g HBR and the extra cap and SRR calls it quits.

Game 2: SRR Greeks Digital Greeks
The Barbs in this game were against me in this game. first one gives me 30 gold 2nd gives me HBR when i had 18 out of 20 tech banked. I find china and spend my gold to take them out at 2700 at a pop 4. SRR already has his 100g. the barbs continue to give out tech and spys and it took me another 10 turns to get my 100g meanwhile SRR finds AW for GP and 7 cities of gold, he switches to republic and i assume mass expansion. I expand to 4 cities and 3 loose settlers to plant once i hit 5 tech for 3 pop cities and somehow beat him to irrigation. SRR and I finally meet toward the top of the map, I see one of his militia walking around and i destroy it. I get a boat and find SRRs boat and then see him settle a city. He wins the 1-1 and destroys my boat then switches back to demo. I hit republic and start mass expanding and all is quiet. it appears SRR started on an island, it was pretty big about 30 tiles but he doesn't really expand much on it. he makes 3 boats, he tells me afterward he had so much money he didn't know what to do with it. I start hitting all the bonuses. i rushed corp and researched industialization. SRR rushes EIC but it was too late. I ended up with 24 cities to his 8, he took the chinese cap from me with a crusier fleet, pikemen army and knight army and I took it back the same turn with tanks at 1150ad and he threw in the towel.

Digital and I just finished up our 2 games. The first game was a mirror match between the Mongols. Our settlers met around 3500 B.C. both of us had 25 gold and I mistakenly exhausted my settlers so Packrat captured my settlers, Second game Packrat was France and I was the English. Packrat started on an island but did not realize it til 7 or 8 turns into it. It was a rather large island he managed to put 12 cities on it as well as taking the Romans that were on the island as well. I was able to find Angor Watt and get the Great Wall. I was able to find a lot of dye and teched up very quickly reached the modern era around 1200 - 1300 B.C. and the game was over from that point however Packrat managed to DRAAAAAAG the game out until around 1800. Unfortunately Paris was not on the water so it took some extra time but never the less it was a good game and take it from me just because you have the game won do not play lazy against Packrat cause he will fight til the very bloody end.

Short answer, I won this one but it was tough and a good game. Need to give a shout out to my March Horse army which took out his vet HA, elite LA, and 2 knight armies plus took spanish cap and a chinese city. Long Version: First barb village gives me a boat. I galley drop zulu at 3400, DA gets 7COG at 3300 and he meets me at zulu cap at 3200. I have teched HBR and rush 1 horse. I have no gold. He rushes a warrior army at takes the zulu cap from me the turn i finish teching BW. All is quiet for a few turns, my single warrior above zulu cap gets a spy from barb village and I steal 39g from DA's zulu cap and My horse gets me the rest of my 100g. By now I know where the rest of the AI civs are, the chinese and spanish which are a good 25 tiles from my cap. i settle my 100g city fairly close to spain and rush out 2 more horses and head for spain. DA advances on my cap and within 3 turns gets AW for GP, switches to fundy and gets legions which upgrades his WA that took zulu cap from me. I have my cap defended with an archer army, and extra army and a 2nd AA protecting my hill by my cap. he attacks with LA 18 to 15 and destroys my AA and he brings up a horse army and takes my cap with a 9 - 3 with no injury. since they were useless i attacked with my AA on the hill hoping to destroy the HA that took my cap to no avail 4.5 -6. 2 turns later I take the spanish cap and get navigation. Finally somthing going my way. i move my march HA back to protect 100g city and rushed a galleon to destroy DA's galley that just found my spanish cap. I rush settlers out of my 100g city and spain and plant them on whale. I see DA's vet HA come into view from the hill i was protecting my 100g city and take out his HA. next turn chinese walk into view with settlers guarded by a single archer, I take out the archer. next turn china plants the city with no defense, I take the city and DA marches his elite LA next to the newly claimed city and i destroy it in the same turn. During this same turn DA brings another galley to my 100g city and i rush a galleon from it and destroy it. I assume another LA or 2 were on it. Things settle down for a few turns. I find SoC for a GH and GA then a few turns later DA rushes knights for his 9th tech. china plants a GB in its cap and I steal it and rush EITC. DA switches to republic to expand. I expand to 11 cities. DA gets AoC. I then find a militia unit near my chinese city and destroy it. next turn i see a galley show up next to my EITC city and i destroy it with my galleon but he manages to drop his KA off the boat after I destroyed it (he was host) I attack it with my HA and win the 9-9 and get a GG. i start getting all the bonuses, got another GA from monarchy and a GS from invention. I rush corp with GS and get another GA from my 500g bonus ( could not use a single damn artist due to his culture from AoC) he brings 1 final KA to attack my 100g city but I had 2 units in there and brought my march HA back and destroyed the KA. Its about 1100 AD and I have gotten both money techs and atlantis. It is 27 tech to 14 tech when my wife calls and needs to be picked up from work. I message DA and ask if we can pause the game for a bit but he says he has no time later. He thought he could still come back but after I told him I was doing 300 science and 160 gold a turn and a little convincing from MultiPlayaBeast he conceeded. Tough, Fun game
