The Game is CRASHING and PC reboots !!!

    Hi Everyone,

My PC is crashing when ever i start the game, i don't know what the problem is but please help me with it so that i play it as i really love the game. I will also provide the my PC specs just incase:

    Processor: AMD FX8150 Black Edition
    GPU: Nvidia GTX580 (2) SLI
    RAM: 6GB
    Motherboard: ASUS Crosshair Formula V

Just to inform you that i have even tried the game without the SLI still it crashes.

Well, I have similar problem with demo on Steam. Blue screen appears right after I click to run Darkness 2. My specs:
    Processor: AMD FX4100
    GPU: Radeon 6850
    RAM: 4GB
    Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3

So it's pretty easy to spot that most probably Bulldozer processors are problem here. I tried several ways to fix it - updating directx, GPU drivers, turning off teselation in AMD Catalyst Control Center. Nothing works.

I'm writing this to make sure 2K Games are aware that there is some problem with AMD processors, because it seems to be rare case - not many poeple bought that CPU's ;]. Maybe switching off some cores would help - but I cannot do that in Task Manager since Blue Screen appears almost right after I double click Darkness 2 icon.
Anyway, I'm patiently waiting for some fix.

    Regards

    Hey guys,

The issues that you are describing are probably more appropriately dealt with in a ticket. If you could both please submit tickets to us, along with DxDiags and MSinfos, we will be more than happy to look into them.

    Best Regards,

    Brad L.

Ok, I have sent my dxdiag and msinfo, the title of ticket is similar to this thread.

For any other people that will be sending this:
I think there is a little mistake in "How do I attach a DXDiag and msinfo file from my PC?" tutorial - meaning I didn't find "More Help.." tab in dxdiag (I'm using Win7 x86). Another way to do this is to click Windows Button+R, write msinfo32 and then click File->Export. I Hope it helps.

Thanks Caloriffe, for showing interest in the post, i will also post the ticket as explained as people with the FX processors are not posting anything, lets hope the patch for this problem comes as soon as possible cause i have already purchased the game.

I had a problem with the game showing the title screens, the evolution title, and then it would show a purple circle for a few seconds and crash back to the desktop. The final solution for me was to go into MSCONFIG, choose the services tab, check Hide all Microsoft services, and uncheck the ZoneAlarm ForceField IswSvc selection. This took many, many iterations of elimination to find this one service that causing a problem for me. So if you are running Zone Alarm, you might give this a try. Now the game plays fine.

Ok, it seems that I solved my problem with AMD FX processor. I thought it would be nice to write it here for anyone who needs that. :]
So, the reason of the problem is that Windows 7 isn't working well with Fx processors yet.

To solve this you have to install two Windows updates and update your BIOS. Windows updates are described here:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2645594
    and here:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2646060

They won't update automatically through Windows Update, you have to install them manually. If you have problem finding them, here are the links:
    http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads...4)-x86x64.html
    http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads...0)-x86x64.html

    (Install KB2645594 first)

Also, you have to update your BIOS to newest version. This site might be helpful:
    http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles...platforms.aspx

    I think that's all. Have fun. :]
