Just a pissy note to pollute the board, but I'm steamed. Just got the open tray error on my 360 250GB Special Edition and am going to need a new dvd drive...4 f@*king days after my warranty expired. Ran out 2/14 and today is 2/18. Can't f@*king believe this S@*t!!!

That's happened to me before. It's even worse when it happens right after an extended warranty runs out. I don't buy those plans anymore.
they're actually trying to sell me a new extended warranty for when the xbox comes back. man, 1 year (+ 4 days) for a band new piece of electronics is BS!
We have laws in the UK where the retailer (not manufacturer) would have to fix or replace that (sale of goods act). It would fall under 'not fit for purpose'.
I'm pretty sure MS would possibly fix for free if you contact them, no?

So nice you had to post it twice, although the red ring of death did cause xbox to fix things outside of the warranty
