Don't like the Darkness voice in this one :(

    Hi all,

Was wondering what you all think about the Darkness voice in the sequel? I personally think Mike Patton has done a fine job, but I don't think the developers mixed his voice. In the first one it was proper mixed up and very dark. In the sequel he is just shouting a lot in a screamo voice. I played the first darkness again last month to get me pumped for this one which has made the voice sound a lot different to me.

What do you guys think? I loved the campaign albeit a little short.

Yeah his voice definitely sounded darker & more distorted in the original game, not to mention he also had more memorable lines. I still thought he was great in the sequel though, he seemed downright angrier in this one.

I loved the gameplay but disdained the storyline, which was the exact opposite issue I had with the first game.

The Darkness had very few moments in which it seemed formidable as an opponent. Compared with it's dialogue from the first game this one seems downright nice. ("She REEKS of innocence!" "This is a good place to die...." "Oh, what did they do to poor Jenny?.")

I didn't dislike it, but unlike the first the voice didn't really have the same impact, I barely noticed it at all....

but that was probably down to the faster pacing of the game.

Yeah I wasn't so scared (or should I say disturbed) by what The Darkness said in this one. He did sound more angry and scared than the first which is totally fine in terms of what's happening in the story, but like the way he said each line in The Darkness 2 had the same tone which got quite boring quickly. In the first it was a dodgy mix of really low tones and ridiculously high (something Mike Patton is very good at). I also noticed in the credits that Brian Bloom (Voice of Jackie in the darkness 2) also voices parts of the darkness for this game! Maybe that's the reason? I loved every minute of the game but for the gameplay improvements the storytelling suffered. I wish they put the subway music from the first game somewhere in the sequel! Such a memorable tune.

I like his voice, my favourite part was where you were in the Brothel and you follow Venus. And the Darkness says: HMmmmmMm....Yes":P

He has a right to be angry...

You freaking defeated him, and then suppressed him for years... I'd be pissed off too if someone did that to me.

Yeah, that was ridiculously out of character.

I love Mike Patton but I think he could have made his voice the same as the first game, kept similar dialogue, and it would have turned out way better.
