    Played two vs. Redaf:

1st game his Egyptians vs. my Japanese. I walked a little, picked up some gold and walked in on the Arabs at 3300 BC, but did ont get religion. RED settled very late, got HGB and his 100g very fast. Got the KT too, which kept me worrying more than I wanted since he was close by and his galley was roaming around and I was not sure whether the KT was on there or not. The game developed nicely, I shipped a HA to England and took a city for Monarchy. Game showed me where SoC was and I was about to get it after my 1st GP, but then the game froze. RED did not notice anything and the game continued for me after about 1 min. So everything seemed OK. But unfortunately it was one of those freezes where it kicks me out and turns me into host and we play in parallel in 2 different games. RED offered to give the game to me, but I don't think the game was decided either way. I had the edge with the extra cap and monarchy, but we should redo that game.

Game 2 was my Germans vs. his Indians. Our settlers meet 3 turns in. I did not have any gold and RED apparently neither so he moved away. I decided to settle landlocked between two barbs, not knowing where RED went. Two turns later he took Athens and I thought to myself that this would not end well. I took the barbs down and RED also declared war on the Russians. I ended up taking Moscow with 2 warrior armies, keeping his HA in check. I later kill his HA and RED has only Delhi and Athens left. I send a bunch of WAs over and block some trees and box him in. At the same time I was expanding slowly and considered upgrading to legions right away. But he had pike armies in both caps defending at over 20, so I did not want to risk it. The game dagged on for a while, until I found SoC, got 2 scientists and turned my 9 LAs into KAs and switched to religion. Game over. If RED's HA had managed to cause more trouble in the beginning, I would have had a big problem.

Go my 2nd game vs. Chug E in. My Greeks vs. his Germans.

I start by the south pole, walk and get a friendly. Notice that I am on an island with one barb and settle. Take the barb and get a galley. Build 2 more warriors and ship them towards the mainland. In the meantime Chug E takes down Egypt for Colossus - oh oh. Luckily my galley found his undefended cap quickly and I galley dropped it with three warriors and he quit. Would have been a tough one if he had started further away from me.

I guess it does not matter whether REDAF and I replay match no. 1 since it would not change anything about MPB and me being in the finals.

It is quite frightening too as I know how good Remo is and I'm honored to face him in these finals to come. I thank all the challengers for giving me good games this tourney. To me... We are all finalists! ;-)

This had the makings of a good game for sure.

My starting spot had only 1 desert, so I decided to walk, found some gold and missed a walk in on France as took a wrong turn and ended up on a peninsula. Wonder was HGB and gave me a decent start, albeit a bit tardy.

Was worried about Fundy when I saw REM had walked in on Tripoli, but when he didn't switch I figured he didn't get it.

Managed to get to COL and about 5-6 cities, with a small tech lead when the kick happened. Had some production storing in two cities and was heading for Cats and Galleons as he was close and I saw he had Monarchy.

Will re-play if necessary as it wasn't near over, but he did have two Caps and more armies than I at the time. If I had been able to get to Cats before he released the horde, I may have had a chance...

    This was a bummer game...

I walked and as REM mentioned, we ran into each other in the middle of the map. I had only 10g from a naming tile and had no idea what he had at the time, so I tucked my tail in and ran away. Got a 25g hut and a walk-in on Athens.. Switch to DEM and get HBR while storing Produciton in Delhi.

REM slowed my HA early by killing one of my single H units, which set me back a turn or two heading for Moscow.

When I got to Moscow, I saw 1 of his WA and it didn't have march, what I didn't see was the second WA that did... needless to say, it didn't make it. 1 h and 1 HA down and REM has 3 WAs I can see and they're all coming. I manage PAs with the production and gold I could make and was trying for CAs in DEM, but had no production to make them with anyway. It's damn tough to dislodge a WA fortified on your trees and impossible to build anything without them.

I was thinking in hindsight, I should have maybe fortified Ps on my trees, but that may have just made the game end quicker if I hadn't had PAs in my cities, he would have likely taken them with his elite WAs...

GGs REM.. Even if we don't need to replay the EGY vs JAP game for the tourney, it will be good to play you again anyway.. Always a good time! GL in the rest of your tourney games...

also i think we should rename these tourneys....world championship sounds alot more enticing than ;round robin
I agree sounds way more exciting...and my strategy for civ picking is just to pick the first civ that pops up but if i have been them already then i just hit rt till the next available civ lol...

Played two games vs. MBP yesterday.

1st game: My Indians beat his Greek.
Long game. I thought I started on a large island and decided to stay in the game since the island looked decent enough. Turned out later that I was at the very end of the mainland, but very oddly shaped. Only a passage to the very south-west would lead past the Arabs and Zulu to the mainland, where MBP was. If I had known that the game would have gone a different route ...

So I settle, take down hut which shows AW which I take for pyramids. I have no gold and I spotted him across the water, so I decided I try for fundy WAs and surprise him. That did not work since those pikes are quite strong :-( Wasted a lot of turns doing that rather than expanding in Republic instead. He took Washington in the meantime and had a galley over that was harassing me a little. He flipped one of my cities, I take it back with archer army and he galley drops one later which I take back with horses. He is off to a big tech lead, I am expanding. Then I switched to demo too and caught up. When I was about to get invention, he GS'ed it, I GS'ed steam power shortly after. Was trying to find Atlantis before him, but he got it a few turns later and was off to 25 techs. I stayed under 24 and started building attack forces. As I was approaching Washignton, he GB'ed Military Complex in it - nice - thank you ;-) I unloaded a bunch of armies and took Washington. Rushed a 2nd attack force and took one of his island cities. He sank one cruiser fleet with his and I retaliated with my other fleet. Took another of his big cities and he concedes, despite having both money techs. Nice comeback victory for me after I made the wrong call early on with fundy. But MBP has got to get out of his turtle mode every once in a while ;-)

2nd game: My Egypians beat his Russians
I start with Stonehenge :-( Get 3 warriors out and tech HBR. He walks for a long time and when I got my first horse and 100g, his warrior made contact at one of my tiles. I get the HA together and scout cautiously, but he has nothing but the warrior there. I have a galley from a hut and a warrior that just took down a barb. So I decided to ship the warrior over to where his cultural borders were to see if I can make a surprise drop - that worked out fine ;-) My double-injured warrior took his empty cap for the win.

Now it is time for MBP to bring the big guns! Don't get me wrong - I liked your first civ choices - but you gotta bring the heat now :-D

I really am confused right now because I'm beginning to think that I might get swept. I thought so much that there wasn't a way for Rem0 to beat me that first game and I SEEN him rush steam power but I didn't build a attack force. I had the science and money but yes I did freaking turtle while still making more settlers under democracy. But somehow again Rem0 gets the production or gold to build cat armies, cruiser fleet to ruin my parade. I'm beginning to question the Military Complex. Perhaps that game I shouldn't have built it in a weakly defended city as Washington.

Second game, I just started bad with Russians. I wanted a quick win since Rem0 time zone it was late and he had to go. Russians local map showed me friendly but opposite of all the action, so I go for it. Took two turns... then I run back in the direction where I knew the action would be at but it took 4 turns. I feel forced to settle but 4 turns later I believe, Rem0 egyptians got 100g and I know he got hbr. I knew it was pretty much over from there but I continued until I get boat dropped.

Rem0... you consistently show me how good you are, especially late game and I'm getting embarrassed for all people to see. I'm going to try these next 3 games to go hard and strong for the win... and not turtle as much if it makes it that far

Lmbo, but I do wish it was a island but I think it had made no difference him getting AW. Republic so early can do anyone a difference in a game and somehow they still get 100g.

MBP and I got the 3rd and final game in. My Japanese beat his English.

I walk, settle on turn 2 after picking up a friendly. Take down a hut, have 2 warriors out and start teching HbR. While getting HBR, I notice that MBP walked in on the Germans. Two caps and those dang longbow archers - won't be fun. So I get a horse out, which takes down a barb and makes contact with one of his warriors. The 2nd horse spots another warrior of his roaming my land. I figured I will just head with my new horse army towards him to check out the situation. I see his borders and a hill next to them. I move up on the hill and see his captial on a hill, but empty. So he did not see me. Beginning of next turn I walk my HA in and that's it. I was a little surprised that he did not have units in there since he saw that I had horses coming. We talked via headset and he worked on BW and was about to put an archer in London. Would not have made a difference though since my HA was vet and most likely would have taken the archer out anyways.

After that we played some friendly matches, but I will post about those in the H2H thread.

    GG MBP!
