Is there a trick to getting the Grognard achievement?

Win the military medal in 3 consecutive battles. Unlocks Bear Rug.

I've gotten the military medal in 5 battles in a row now, and still haven't gotten the achievement. It's possible that it's because my net kicked me off just before the third battle ended, but when I logged back on, it said my civ won the battle and I got the military medal...

I am not much help here as I always had so many battles in flight. It seemed to come late for me as well.

As I had folks picking off barbarians and some battles beginning before others yet ending afterward, I wondered if those factors might have had an effect as well.

Don't know. I didn't count the barbarian battle, between 1st and 2nd medal... or the one after the 5th. New game and all battles took place in about a 4 to 5 hour span of time though. 3rd ended just after the 4th began, and 5th started shortly after the 4th so those two overlapped... but still. Annoying.

This is sort of obvious but there were no battles between other nations during this time period right?

When I got the medal both for myself and some friends, we were in a small civ and we declared war on 3 civs within about a minute of each other to ensure there would be no battle from another nation interfering, and it all worked without a problem.

I am in a small game where I got the destroyer of worlds and won 10 battles in a row as DM and no Grognard. I sent a help request to 2K games and after almost a week and two more emails to them I got toldbto post it in the forum! I feel that this has not been all that helpful. As far as I can remember now there were no more battles as I understand that barbarian battles do not count.
