Crash on screen with purple ring on start up

Hey guys. Just wanting to ask if there is going to be a patch or if there's a fix for this problem.

Every time I start up the game through steam, I get to the screen with the small purple ring and the game freezes and says not responding. After about 10 seconds it crashes back to the desktop.

I have tried everything I could possibly find.

Everything is up to date and I have tried verifying the files through steam.....nothing is working.

Please any assistance would be greatly appreciated....I really want to play this game!!

Exactly what has happened to me. I've tried everything from verifying the files, to updating my graphics card, to reinstalling, to deleting files that may interfere and so on.

The main problem I've heard on forums is to turn off your firewall (ZoneAlarm being the biggest problem) and checking if that works.
2k support also told me to go into my Nvidia settings and turn off the Anti-aliasing settings, but nothing new happened for me still kept crashing.
If not, submit a ticket to 2k Support discussing the problem.

Inform me if you get it working, I'd like to know how to fix this ASAP.

Well, again, only turning Zone Alarm off doesn't help. After you turned Zone Alarm off you have to open the task manager and then you must click on processes. Then you need to click on "show processes of all users" and find the ISWSVC.exe, then you have to close that, too. Then you have about 10 seconds to start the game, before the ISWSVC.exe starts automatically again. When you're in game you can turn Zone Alarm on again! It won't crash.

Wanted to keep this topic fresh because I also had the same problem and it took me ages to find this thread via google searches ect ..
..I followed 'lolxd17's firewall instructions above and then the game loaded up perfectly i hope it helps others before they go through the chaos of verifying, reinstalling, updating drivers and any other time consuming procedure that may not of helped.
