how long has it taken to complete the campaign?

how long does it take to beat the darkness 2, on the average difficulty that most people play on, not the easiest and not the hardest?

there's a quote from the devs in this post which covers that, basically depends how you play.

but have seen plenty of posts saying it's very short, around 6 hours but tbh I see the same posts for most linear FPS.

Well, I am fairly certain it only took me about 6 hours and I was looking for relics. I will agree with the sentiment that it is quite short, but there's definitely a properly formed story in there. By that I mean there's an intro, beginning, rising action, climax and denoument.... before the real ending occurs and a second rising action happens

It only took me around 5 hours, but I was only picking up relics as I found them.

It does have a proper story as Codex said, but vital parts of it seemed cut out and I really wanted to have more interaction with certain characters vs others. I think it was a good playthrough, but it easily could have been longer.

so it really is short, shame, but hopefully there's some replay value, mine didn't arrive today , is there another difficulty level to unlock once you've finished?

You get a new game + option. You start off with four difficulty settings and I found the second (mobster) kind of difficult at times. I don't know if you get a new one though :s

No, I didn't see one, just New Game+.

However, I recommend playing on Mobster, simply because Thug would make it even shorter since most enemies seemed to die in two hits.

I just completed it on Don difficulty in about 5-6 hours ( this is my first time playing it but i prefer playing on Don difficulty thanks to the Demo), trying to get as much essences and relics as i can.
Ended up with about 2/3 of the relics and 5 upgrades left. Will try to get them all in the newgame+.

Also here, 4 hours and 15-30 minutes, with the Co-Op campaign about 1 hour and a few minutes more...

I didn't count it by the number of hours, but it took me two lengthy sittings to play through the game on Don difficulty. It was pretty short unfortunately, roughly the same length as a CoD campaign.

also finished in 2 sessions, it is very short but really enjoyed it, the combination of guns & powers works really well, good story & characters.

plenty to keep me replaying for a while

My first playthrough on normal (mobster?) took about 6.5 hours. That was with me talking to everyone in the mansion and finding most of the relics. My New Game+ playthrough on Don difficulty took about 5 hours. I really really really love this game, from the story to the gameplay, but I hate how short it is. It's even worse because we have been waiting 5 years for this game.

I agree on that completely. DE gave me what I wanted in a Darkness game, just not enough of it. If they cut out the co-op mode & made the campaign twice as long it would have been epic.

Yeah, the gameplay is awesome. I like using the Darkness powers more than guns most of the time, which is exactly how the game should play. I honestly always thought The Darkness would work best as a Prototype-like game, since Jackie can pretty much create anything and rarely uses guns, but this game made me love it the way it is.

Just completed my first playthrough on Mobster and with taking my time to explore for relics and mucking about with Darkness powers, listening to explanations of the relics and watching all cutscenes and conversations...game time was about 6 hours

Just started New Game + on Don level...with my darkness powers it doesnt seem a challenge at all, so will probably move quickly on to Vendettas and give that a try

well i think this game has the same lenght of part 1.
only what made part 1 take a little more time.
was that it had a lot of side missions.
    and this game has none.
but at least it has a cool co-op mode and a N+ version

I've probably spent more time playing co-op than the campaign, not difficult I know but it's a great new addition and works very well.

I played the co-op for about half an hour. I found it to be really uninteresting, I missed playing as Jackie & having the demon arms & full range of powers.

I completed the Vendettas mode in offline (SP) in around 4 hours....its nothing more then increasingly difficult combat missions, still great fun...more challenging if you play it SP, but can see in Co-Op that it would honestly be a walk in the park, and that was on Don level

So, total SP experience so far is ten hours, but ten solid hours of enjoyable gaming in the universe of Jackie Estacado...I really do think people were expecting something similar to the original game, but that had a whole bunch of side missions to distract you, this game doesnt and its main story is richer for the experience IMHO

I have completed campaign in 7 hours.

  25. I thought it was rather short too. I played it on Don and found 21/29 relics on first play through.

But there was the vendetta games too which were cool so it's not like it was just the campaign and that's it.
