MOD: Unique Building - Bull Ring

Replaces the Spanish Tercio unique unit, with the Bull Ring unique building.

The Bull Ring replaces the Colosseum, keeping the +2 local happiness and also increasing the cultural output of the city by one. The Bull Ring increases the productuon yield of each Cow resource by one.

The Circus Maximus national wonder is replaced by the Maestranza. This national wonder is unique in that it must be constructed before any other Bull Rings - it being the oldest Bull Ring in the Empire. In addition to the +5 happiness of the Circus Maximus the Maestranza also has an Artist slot.

The Conquistador is granted the Foreign Lands promotion (like the French Foreign Legion)

You can find this mod on the Mod Hub under Buildings.

You may also want to use the "Unit - Herdsman" mod to move cattle around so that cities can build Bull Rings

    Sounds like a neat addition.

I like how you're standardizing all the civs and making sure they all have 1 UU and 1 UB. It's nice for a civ to have something with a little more permanence than just units. I plan on doing the same for my little project I'm working on. At first I wanted to have each civ have 2 UU's and 1 UB, but that was just silly/crazy thinking. It's much easier to do it this way.

If you like, I can try to create some artwork for these buildings, especially if I plan on implementing any/all of them in a mod (with credit given to you, of course). If you dig them, you can have them, or you can even make your own tweaks to them. I'll just find some nice pics on Google and vectorize them and such with Photoshop and I'll convert them to DDS. I'm not sure how nice they'll come out, but I'll try. It's the least I can do for your many contributions to the community and all the help you've given me with the code.

I tried making some unit flags and icons for my Tunnel Boring Machine unit (as there are some usable pictures of TBMs out there), but DDS made my head hurt. And then you run into the horror of actually getting the images into the game as the graphic reference tables don't seem to update like the main data tables, so you have to change the core game xml files (via the mod of course) which then makes other mods break. It must be possible as there are some great mods with graphivs out there, but it's more effort than its worth for the time I have available - I'd love to see two independant mods, both with unit flags and pedia icons, that co-exist and work in strategic view (where unit flags tend to vanish).

This one was done mainly for the challenge of seeing if you could make normal buildings dependant on a national wonder (rather than the other way round).

While I like (some of) the Unique Units, civs with two of them just don't appeal to me - as I regularly get to the end of a game with a main fighting force of around 10 units (excluding scouts/militia/home guard in the cities on "peace keeping" duties)

2 UUs and 1 UB is an option I looked at (1 foot UU, 1 ranged/mounted UU and a UB) but there are only so many variations on a combat theme

I think the Turkish Bath will be the next UB to escape from the hacked up XML which is the nightmare of my "test mod"

This one was a tougher one, but I think it came out alright. Actually took a break from it to do the Dojo until I learned a few tricks and solved some things.

    Ooooo!

I shall "write up" what I did for the Dojo graphics and then test the process with this one

That's awesome! Mind if I use the Maestranza icon as the icon for a wonder?

Sure, Pouakai, go right ahead. I'm glad you like it! This is my favorite one so far.

Anything I create is for the whole Civ community to use however they please.

Next, I think I'm going to create one for the German schloss. (Or maybe someone else could also use it for a Neuschwanstein national wonder.)

Version 6 uploaded - removed the requirement for cows within the city limits for the Bull Ring (as I've just played a game as Spain with zero cows on the entire continent!)
