I would just like to know if there will ever be a patch that will make it so that a game doesn't end after a certain amount of turns, or to compromise with those who like it the way it is now make it so that it can be toggle-able between the two.

No. No more patches. We were told that when the last patch came out. This game was released in 2008 and got three patches that year. It hasn't been patched since. Game companies don't really go back and patch games that have been out that long. The only scenario I can imagine in which we'd get another patch is if the game got re-released as a classic on the next generation of consoles. But don't hold your breath on any of that.
I want "battle mode"—a way to disble all pop ups until I'm ready for them.
if they did patch it game ending year wouldn't be on the list. it was debated initially but, like the rest of us, if you keep playing you'll realize the ending comes well before the mayan civ calender runs out. read a few strats and you accelerate your game by centuries. top of the list for me would be the advisor pop-ups that cause freezes. i swear they weren't there before the last patch. something they did caused it imo. thats why patching a game of this complexity is not an easy thing. next would be a way to defeat the cheat. i don't know if a patch could handle that. the only way they would have patched it again would be if they had a continued revenue stream. would you guys pay a monthly fee to play? if civ rev 2 was that way?
You know, I think I would for continued support and updates. No doubt people would complain stating that it should be released 'unbroken', but they are only going to do it if there is profit in it. Considering the value for money I've had so far, then yes, a monthly fee would still be worth it. Especially if maybe a couple of times a year they introduced a new civ or tweaked any out of kilter bonuses etc.
