After watching the recent video of the game, I have come to a decision. I shall go into the future and play it now. All I need is a bit more Elerium-115 and a cow.

Have fun, let us know what you think!!!! I wonder - how are you going to extract the necessary methane from said bovine?![]()
There's a flaw in that plan.
There is no cow level.
A skyranger USB pen? A plastic elerium fragment? Or an X-com Recruitment poster consisting to the funding council or something "We want You" (X-com operator pointing at you) just ideas folks
they already have us though! (if we have bought the game =p)
Collectors Editions. I am a big fan of collectors editions. I own quite a few of them. I've been known to buy the really nice ones. I bought the Star Wars Collectors edition of ToR. SC2. Skyrim. Each one with a nice statue.
I think XCOM should have multiple editons. I still know many websites have XCOM listed at the number PC game of all time. I think there should be a Number one game of all time edition! It should come with a statue of an Operative in full Flying suit or Power Armor. Maybe a replica alien blaster..
For sure I would like to have an art book, Maybe Sound track (depending on quality of music), Maybe a book like the Halo Diary / Journal with information about impending doom.
Trying to think of other really nice Collector editions. the RC car from Modern Warfare was ok, night vision was cheap, coulda been nice better. Maybe a set of action figures of the ailiens? I am going to go back and read the full post and see if anyone else jump starts my idea.
I would like to see a glass Containment chamber with a floating piece of glowing elerium in the middle. LIke a bright piece of ore that is see through, maybe yellow / orange. Make it magnetic and float in the middle of a stand, or between Tops and bottoms, with a glass cover. Make it glow with LEDS..
I don't care what's in it i'm going to buy it anyway
Probably won't even bother to find out what's in the collector's edition before ordering...
But if i could wish for something.
I would like anything that would make the X-COM organisation seem more real. For example a notebook with the xcom-logo on its pages or an X-Com pen or pencil.
As DazzD already suggested, some x-com styled top secret documents with backgound information would be great, too.
Another thing i would quite like would be having myself in the game.
Maybe buyer's of the collector's edition could send in their Names, Nicknames and faces to get immortalized as a soldier in the game
Or something like that. Of course i trust that renaming your soldiers will be possible, anyway. But having your own soldier from the beginning in the game would be nice.
Sectoid Bobble head for my car!
I too would like the prototype. But I wonder which version would be more popular to play.
for a collectors edition i would love to see a xbox 360 style controller*for pc with usb) given some serious xcom treatment - instead of the green circle in the center a a xcom logo illuminated in blue - the controller to be in a x shape almost like a xbox 360 contrtroller cut in half and the to bottoms stuck together (if u know what i mean) The controller itself would have a soft blue light emitting from the design and when ever one of your troops are killed it flashes red and rumbles like crazy and on big explosions just rumbles.
The styling would be very futuristic so it looked very high tech and looked like it was made by xcom.
If you had a figurine would have to be a sectoid with out doubt - a xcom mug or xcom baseball cap would also be pretty nice but to be honest if they did a controller like that i would buy without question and i dont buy collectors packs.
It wouldnt sit on the shelf either looking pretty it would get played everyday
I hope the collectors edition will be better than Civ 5. A medicore art book, and a bunch of pewter figures (one was bent) Grrr. I'm thinking that Maybe it could be a steel book edition with Making Of DVD, a GOOD artbook, copies of the original 3 games, maybe a statue.
I'd buy the proposed Enemy Unknown Collectors Edition as a package deal with the upcoming new game. Trinkets..meh. if I can play it on my 360 then it would be sweet.
Personally, I think it was probably out of context, but if you don't buy that then it was actually a savvy media relations person using the glorious roasting powers of the interwebz to fuel hatred for the FPS and then they underhand pitch this re-imagining and suddenly everyone's more or less happy. Then, when the FPS comes out next year most people will probably try it (ideally I hope to support Xcom not only as a superior TBS, but as a franchise as well).
Honestly, I'm psyched up too, but if they could bring some of that tactics and strategy and character to an FPS, that would be awesome. I try to look at it as not making Xcom into an FPS, but making the FPS X-Com. I expect a smart, tactical, and strategic FPS.
As for what I want to see in the collectors edition. A poster with a bunch of hotties with Xcom dogtags, plasma rifles, and military bikinis languishing on the SHIV would be fine.
I'm a man of simple tastes. What more do you need to sign up for a worthy cause?
Pardon me, but you wouldn't be under the misapprehension that my and DazzD's quoted dialogue was in reference to Christoph Hartmann's statements, would you? Because it's either that, or you're suggesting Alec Meer (the guy we were actually talking about, or at least the most relevant to the context of our quotes) is a schill of some kind (because there's really no "out of context" if you're referring to the same comments we were), and I doubt that, even if he is a little too eager to hype exclusives.

Not all gaming media, certainly. Personally, I generally just listen to what my friends think about games, or carefully read user reviews, or read reviews from a couple of reviewers I do trust.
Collectors Edition....big fan!
I was just at GameStop earlier today as I was looking for a charger cord for my GBA SP and asked about a CE. Currently no CE is showing in their system and there has been no truely official release date set yet (and yes he knew about how on the internet it has been announced as a September release, but that doesn't make it truely official). The worker said that once the actual company releases it's official release date to expect a CE to become available then.
Lego skyranger/ufo ?
I do like the idea of having whatever documents come in the game have that "Top Secret/Classified" look to them.
Would also LOVE to see a geoscope globe.
With most collector editions ( PC )
1. A hard covered book with character skecthes and all over that.
2. Soundtrack cd.
3. making of the game on dvd.
4. some kind of figure or usb drive with previous game.
5. the game itself.
And of corse, a collectors edition strategy guide.
I do hope there is a collectors edition..
Well now you know what will be in it.
Available from participating retailers at launch, a special edition of XCOM: Enemy Unknown (MSRP $59.99) will contain a copy of the game for PC and a number of unique XCOM items, including an art book; fold-out poster of the XCOM headquarters; XCOM insignia patch; and a collection of digital bonus assets such as desktop wallpaper, soundtrack and more. A standard edition of XCOM: Enemy Unknown for PC will be available exclusively via 2K’s digital distribution partners.
Actually looking at that last bit
A standard edition of XCOM: Enemy Unknown for PC will be available exclusively via 2K’s digital distribution partners.
Does that mean there's not going to be any regular boxed copies?????
But why would you want the standard edition anyways? Hello, Guile flattop?
Could somebody clarify something here:
http://www.ebgames.ca/browse?nav=16k-xcom
According to EB Games Canada, there is CE for everything but PC, so is that mean that all retail boxes sold at the vendors are CE?
I saw that also. It is odd. I'd think the Xbox and PS3 versions would come in both standard and collector's. And the PC version was only $50 compared to $60 for the consoles - which would lead me to believe that's the SE, but the quote in OP makes it sound like there isn't a box SE for the PC.
Lets bump it up a bit![]()
XCOM: Enemy Unknown has been in development since early 2008 and is a "very, very big budget" project with about 50-60 team members.[10][23] An early prototype was actually a direct recreation remake of the original game with all the classic features (it is possible that this version will be included with the collector's edition release), from which it was gradually evolved into a re-imagination.
Read that on wikipedia
Hymmz, that would be interesting treat for sure, still I wonder why EB Games has nothing on Special Edition for PC.
