PC Demo Feedback
I haven't played the full version of the first Darkness game, just kept replaying the demo over and over again when the game was first released and I enjoyed it a lot. I enjoyed a lot about the Darkness II demo and I will pick it up eventually (maybe not at its full $49.99 value on Steam but maybe when it gets to about $29.99)!
At first glance I didn't really like the look of the sequel because it was a drastic change from the first game (which I thought had AMAZING graphics at the time) and it felt too much like Borderlands/XIII. However, when I first played the demo I was amazed how much better the game looks in motion than in screenshots. The comic book style shaders seem very improved from that of Borderlands (this is being made by published and/or developed by 2K so I'm assuming it's improved from Borderlands) and it looks very amazing! Shadows don't look too bad on high (for "console" style shadows) and the textures are great quality.
Voice acting is great and the gun gameplay isn't really groundbreaking (despite the tentacles) but it works and what the game does it does well and it's functional. Melee control is somewhat weird with the vertical/horizontal slashes while using a mouse and the guns were pretty basic with shotguns, UZI, and pistols, at least in the demo.
Some bugs or things that need to be fixed:
- Those playing on a 16:10 resolution will have a "squished" or "skinny" screen. The Crosshair is skinny and is more tall than wide, same thing with HUD elements that are supposed to be circular, are tall and skinny and not a complete circle.
- Having a controller plugged in will replace all HUD button icons with Xbox 360 Controller buttons even if you use only keyboard/mouse controls. I had to unplug the controller (which disabled my use of a mic) so I could see keyboard/mouse controls pop up for me via little hints.
- Dual wielding with the mouse was weird to use. Right click fired the left gun, and left click fired the right gun.
- Either I wasn't paying a attention enough or not, but there was no essence meter (game's XP) and the only way I had an indication of how much I had was whenever I was at the upgrade relic thing.

There's already a demo feedback thread, we don't really need seperate ones for each system.
