    Just LOL

Being a huge BTS fan and hater of this game I decided to give it a break for a long time. I haven't played it in months. So today was the day for my officially giving it another go. I load up the game, choose Napoleon, and I'm ready to rock. I quickly take the top dog spot and proceed to coast. I scout out the continent, and chillax. I'm content with my 3 cities and letting the enemy encroach upon me. Funny thing though, that never happens. The Aztecs and the English just sit there. Montezuma finally declares because I have no units. My city state allies gift me a few and his army is crushed. The great general is cut down during the route. Chasing the units back into enemy territory something occurs to me. This guy still has one city. Oh, hey so does Elizabeth. Hah. Hahaha. Civ V. LOL

I think the game has improved immensely since release. Yes, there are some big holes in the game, diplomacy is one but I think it's a great game.

I'm not sure what level you played at but certainly, at the lower levels the AI takes it's time. At the higher levels, you have to stay on your toes.

Maybe after an expansion, you'll find the game more satisfactory. Granted, it just may not be your thing given how many changes were made from IV. No big deal though as there are tons of games to keep a person busy.

If you find V too simplistic you may try Victoria II. It's very complex - too much for my blood.

I forget to change it before the game started so whatever default is. I refuse to believe that was how it was intended. That's just priceless this game never fails to amuse me.

So you played on a level, designed to be simple, and it was?

    Thanks for coming back.

I don't know if that's all that changes. From my experience, the AI seems to be much more aggressive the higher levels you play.

It attacks you if it thinks it has the stronger military. The larger bonuses give it a stronger military. Therefore it attacks you more.

As a reminder to the people thinking of actually discussing here, what you are dealing with.

Everything that I posted in that thread he linked to is also true. Update on my buddy mentioned in that thread. He never did play the game for any length of time. Any mention of it angers him. At some point he created a steam account and lost the password. I tried to get him to buy some games there because they are so cheap but no dice. Steam grew on me especially with their sales and I use it all of the time now. I never did play anyone online and every time I play the game it turns into some fiasco. I still love Civilization and this is only one version of many but to me it really shouldn't even count. I will call the next version 5 if they don't pull another stunt like this. Any other game that I own you can start it up and get some type of challenge. Only here will you hear people saying oh you played on default well yeah playing the AI is about as challenging as playing a toddler. It's amazing if it can even produce a settler.
