I downloaded the demo from Steam but when I try the launch the demo from Steam nothing happens. I have Intel Core 2 Quad 3.0 GHz, Geforce GTX 570, 4 GB RAM on Windows 7 64 Bit. I hope 2K will fix this quickly.

Hi there, thanks for the report. We're looking into this issue.
I have the same problem. I click play and the cursor turns into the blue loading circle for a second or two, then nothing.

Hi! I downloaded the Steam demo and I've got problems too. I can launch the demo but once I start a new game, the textures are all yellow and it's impossible to play.
Here's a screenshot: http://img296.imagevenue.com/img.php..._122_404lo.jpg
I already verified the game cash integrity, tried to change the settings but I still got the same problem. I have Intel Core 2 Quad 2.8GHz, Radeon HD 5700, 4 GB RAM and Windows Vista 64 Bit. Hope this can help.
Hi guys, just made an account.
Just thought I'd leave a bit of feedback too.
Specs-
Vista x64 SP2 fully up-to-date
4GB RAM
Core2 Quad Q9450 @3.4Ghz
GTX 580 Lightning
I am using the latest Nvidia drivers and Realtek Audio drivers, and also everything esle is up to date. I have deleted the game and ran Ccleaner, then re-downloaded it but it still won't launch. I click play and I get the Windows "Pending Circle" icon but the game does not launch. My STEAM client is also fully up-to-date.
I hope you guys can fix it soon, I'm really looking forward to playing the game as I'm a HUGE fan of the first game on 360.
Thanks,
Leon

First Time Posting
Had the same crash problem with my GTX570 and tried a trick I've used on several games (usually older or indie games) Go into your programs and features from the start menu and uninstall your PhysX driver and then install the demo. The demo will install its own physX driver and should work... or at least it did for me
I removed my PhysX driver and didn't install another, it works now.
is there a way to fix the FOV in the demo, and if not at least in the official release? I almost threw up when playing the first section of the demo. I get sick really easily when playing games with tight FOV.
Uninstalling PhysX workaround was required for me as well.
I don't think there is yet, and who knows if there will be. I have just adapted to the situation when the FOV is problematic. I play in a window and reduce the resolution so it's not taking up my whole screen. That way I don't feel as though my FOV is restricted or too small. It really does help, but I'm constantly playing games in windows these days it would seem. But, this will get rid of the sickness you are experiencing.
I just had to uninstall PhsyX, not reinstall the game, and it worked pretty much flawlessly. Thanks for the workaround, hope they fix this.
Hi guys, just wanted to let you know that a patch has gone out to address this issue on Steam. This should resolve the issue without having to use the workaround. Big thanks to the dev team for the same-day turnaround!

Well the demo worked first time for me last night after installing the VC++ (it's that bloody one that leaves remnant files in the root folder of my D: drive for some reason even though Steam and its games are on E:!!!) and DirectX but when I tried to load it again the game refused to even start and left a memory dump file in the game folder.
I've just let it update this morning and the game starting to load showing the logo screens then the Darkness II title screen appeared but with no Press Enter Key displayed. I pressed A on the controller anyway and saw the A button icon in the bottom-right, again with no text, and then the screen went black. Nothing further happened so I was forced to exit the game using the Task Manager but it was still running apparently. Seems that this patch somehow messes up the text on my system and leaves the loading screen in a loop.
What an absolute mess up...
*EDIT*
I should have waited longer and had the sound on as the game does run but it starts with some dialogue and a black screen before switching to the game as the controller starts to rumble. For some reason though, this update renders all the text unreadable and instead displays very faint dots where it should be. As such I cannot see the main menu options nor read any of the subtitles (even if I could turn them on which I can't because the text isn't there).
My specs are: Intel Core i7-920 @ 3.6 GHz, 6 GB, GTX 580 graphics, Windows 7 SP1 (64-bit). I'm using the latest v290.53 beta drivers for my NVIDIA graphics card and have PhysX v9.11.1107 installed.
I'll just reiterate that the updated demo *does* work on my system but the text on the title screen, menus and subtitles do not appear, instead I get what looks like very faint dots where some of them should be. I haven't tried revalidating the files yet though, mainly because I knew that it would trigger the re installation of that VC++ library and, thus, yet more of its install files left in the root of my D: drive (thanks a bunch, Microsoft, you useless <expletive deleted>).
The install problems and my dislike for the cartoonish art style, which I feel distracts from the atmosphere and horror somewhat, has made me cancel my pre-order from ShopTo.net. If the game turns out to be great then I may re-order or I may wait until it drops in price. I'm kind of saddened that the original developers, Starbreeze, aren't behind this though as the Xbox 360 original was one of my favourite first-person action games when it came out.
Well, I have the same problem... I downloaded the demo a few hours ago, installed everything and clicked play. Game started, freezed at the 2K intro and threw me back to my desktop. Then I uninstalled Nvidia PhysX, tried again, but still the same problem. Then I re-installed the game without PhysX, tried again, same problem. Now I installed PhysX again, but's still not working, still freezes at the 2K intro and returns to desktop and creates these MDMP. files in the game folder. I hope that this gets fixed soon, because I already pre-ordered the full version and I have worries that I'll have the same problem with that then, too.
And here my system, maybe you can suggest me something or it helps to find a solution:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 CPU @ 3,40GHz ( 8CPUs)
8GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce GTX 570 1,3GB ( Driver 290.53 )
PhysX installed ( Version 9.11.1107 )
DirectX 11
sometimes the demo doesnt mean nothing. The full version can work. For example the demo of Duke Nukem didnt work on my pc and the full version worked amazing well so try to not be worry.
Well, I downloaded the demo now for PS 3 and just finished it, there it worked. Really good game, really looking forward for the complete version, which is still pre-ordered for PC. I really, really hope that this problem won't be there then, too. I don't want to spend 2 days again for fixing one single problem, already had that with another game... PC demo still not working. But yeah, nice game![]()
Oh, that's it! I disabled the anti-aliasing in Catalyst and now everything works fine!
Thanks for the tip!
How about my issue of windows reboot once intro finishes. PhysX obviously is not the issue. See my own thread - really annoying and I hope final game doesnt suffer this - preorder already payed![]()
I have own problem too when i run the demo it do not anything
