    GOTW English 22.01.2012

This week we are the English.
    Others civs are:
    -Japanese (NW - island)
    -Aztecs (NWW)
-Americans + GA (close SW but ... far due to sea)
    -Spanish (very far SWW)
    Artifacts:
    -KT (10S 2E from start)
    -AW (5S 4E from start)
    -AoC (4N 2W from Tenochtitlan)
-SoC (mainland, 8N 5W from start, &close to Kyoto)
    -Atlantis (9N 5E from start).

Big mainland, many mountains but no walk in, no Republic from AW.
    Today i posted on Deity:
-300 AD Tech.V. - cheap strategy used (settlers from AI instead of caps), CoL 3000 BC, Democracy 1000 BC, ~30 cities (soon 34), AI used all GPs but still good GPs (4GS), few mistakes (no settlers from AI - i lost 3 chances), 250 AD was possible
-150 AD Cult.V. - normal strat, CoL 2000 BC, Democracy 1000 BC, ~35 cities (soon 41), GB from 150 culture, Japanese found SoC so i lost 1-2 turns, with lack of money production city started too late, and Oxford far too late
-1600 BC Dom.V. - Knights (and legions) used, 1700 BC should be possible
(BTW. i did the same 2700 BC on Chieftain and Warlord on Warl&King GB+GS from SoC, from Warl. to Emperor walk in on Kyoto).

Be interesting to see some strategies on this week with the SOC being walkable. I had a quick go getting early knights but they lost at Aztec 18 vs 21. Great wall could be a nice help for expanding wherever you want. American settlers are quite frequent starting as early as 2300bc. A walk in would of been nice this week...

    Yeh,

Kadera and Cash, already posted 1600BC...

    I've got 3 seeds working with GB+GS, GS+GH and GS+GS.

I've been pressing the Americans by holding their production tiles hostage, but they still manage to AA up, before my KA.

Single Ks even with Sam Cas. are losing to As... and Ls w/march have taken out Ks.
I guess the programers thought we should not win too easily (after1600BC!).

In the early AD years, I needed 4KAs and AA to take Tokyo and the same for the Americans... This is because I lost with 1 army less to both with AI upsets then they get GG...

Right now, I'm 4th on PS3 at 500 AD with no walkout short cut, all brute force...

    50 AD Cultural Victory

Knights are too expensive and useless for non-dom (warriors are better). For Dom you should take Washington (it's not hard, production blocked at 3400 BC).

    My final scores:
-50 AD Cultural V. - almost perfect, 20/20 cultural milestones at 100 BC but production city was too slow
-100 AD Tech.V. - should be 50 AD but my galley was too slow (Japanese had GB but only GL kidnapped)
-1700 BC Dom.V. - enough good, 1800 BC is possible (with my opening for non-dom) but very hard (because of river, river on sea! 11.2 vs 8 and i lost 5.6 vs 8). PS. Also: 1900 BC is possible but this opening is useless for non-dom (100g settlers go to SoC - ASAP).

I know I'm attacking Toyko late at 200BC... but it took 5 armies to take it in one turn. I'm tied @ #2 150 AD Dom Diety. I went with GS+GH. I couldn't make the GB+GS work faster.

    Kadera,

    Incredible as usual...

GS + GS should be the fastest. Somthing just pre 2000BC depending on what you are left with in spain and what upgrade options you get. you probably want to win a 18 vs 24 (or somthing like that) at the end vs an AA.

How you missed GS+GS? You should have Knights at 3600 BC. Get veteran from barbs and you can take Tenochtitlan easily. After that wait for walk outs (brute force only for Kyoto).

I can see 2100 BC, i can take Tenochtitlan at 2900 BC or 3000 BC (2900 BC is better - more gold but 3000 BC is needed for 2100 BC). I tried for 3100 BC but Aztecs aren't going to use gold for 3rd archer. Also all civs has AA! And Americans aren't going to walk out (before 1700 BC), it's hard to win 24 vs 24, 24 vs 24, 18 vs 21. I tried it for fun (and did 1800 BC), but i don't care about domination victory (only Chieftain is important), so i'm not going to waste 2-3 hours for useless opening.

This week 3 spoilers for Deity:
    1. normal strategy (for non-dom and dom)
    4000 BC NE N
    3900 BC NW NW (10g)
    3800 BC SW W
    3700 BC SW S
    3600 BC S (25g) S
    3500 BC SW S
3400 BS S, settle, mililitia S -> negotiation, buy IW sell Monarchy, mil N, London 2h 5s, rush legion S (war)
    3300 BC peace, mil N, L1 wait
3200 BC L1 vs barbs, mil SW
3100 BC mil SW, L1 vs barbs, caravan to Washington, L2 S
    3000 BC L1 SW, L2 def, mil E, L3 S, LA vs archer 6 vs 8, peace
    2900 BC Washington (4-pop) + BW + 29g
    2100 BC Tenochtitlan (walk out)
2000 BC Madrid (walk out), CoL from hut
~1400 BC GB from 150c, GS+GE from SoC
1100 BC Ind from hut, GS for Corp
    1000 BC Democracy

    2. cheap strategy (non-dom) based on settlers from AI instead of caps
    4000 BC NE N
    3900 BC NW NW (10g)
    3800 BC NW NW
    3700 BC NW wait
3600 BC NW, GS+GS from SoC, SW, settle
GS+GS go to huts for 2 caravans, 1st caravan to Tenochtitlan
3300 BC 100g settlers (then go to dye and settle), rush few warriors to get money from barbs
    3000 BC GS for CoL
    soon Great Wall from AW
1000 BC Democracy (but no techs from huts and 2 GP less, so it's 2-4 turns slower than normal strat)

    3. crazy strategy based on Knights (good for dom, not very bad for non-dom)
    4000 BC NE N
    3900 BC NW NW (10g)
    3800 BC NW NW
    3700 BC NW wait
3600 BC NW, GS+GS from SoC, SW, settle, GS for HBR, GS for Feudalism, K1 S SE, London 4h
3500 BC K1 SE NE (vs barbs)
    3400 BC K1 SW, vs barbs 30g, K2 S S, caravan SW W W
3300 BC caravan to Tenochtitlan, sell all techs, K2 SW NW, K1 NW NW, K3 S S
    3200 BC K2 def, K3 SW NW, K1 N form army, KA NW W, K4 E E
3100 BC K4 vs barbs, KA vs archer 18 vs 8
    3000 BC KA vs archer 9 vs 6?, K4 vs barbs K4 SE, caravan N N NE
2900 BC KA vs archer 9 vs 6, blitz, take Tenochtitlan + IW
(for 3000 BC sell techs 1 turn later, make war, they use some gold, sell techs, make war, kill legion - overrun and 2 archers)
(it's not very bad for non-dom, you can take 3 capitals easily but you will waste money and 3 GP)

    not exactly.

I like to move the settler another turn S SW.
I still get Tenochtitlan in 2900 or 3000 but I get more gold than you i think, so more options later on

    I posted somthing around 1800.
Basically i lost the final battle on the japanese front and had to send the boat back to get another KA there. probably could do it an easier way for seeding. if i have time might try later on...

    Scottpi,

Just when I fiqured out how to make the GB+GS work... you bump me to 3rd! I kept getting kicked by Tokyo too. First 2KAs, then 3KAs one with Inf. Finally 1AA March, 2KAs+Inf/Bltz+GG+Sam Cas! All brute force no walkouts... 700BC PS3 Dom Diety

This week sure looks like a fun week with many good options, Knights at 3600BC are super fun and very refreshing... had a couple of runs last night but fell a sleep with the controller in my hand lol. That's what happens when you work 10-12 hours a day for two straight weeks but this madness should calm a bit so im looking forward to the romans next week (Or do they have a random week?... haven't been through a full cycle of civs yet), In any case nice scores out there as usual.... I really miss the long leaves from work but i guess its back to normal, a slave of the system lol
