Can't Start Game
I bought it from Steam for $19.99. I read the minimum requirements and I thought I could run it but I suppose not since when I start it up I get a message saying I don't meet the requirements and I can't move my mouse so I have to restart my computer.
Is it impossible to run it on my laptop?
TOSHIBA
Satellite L755
Intel(R) Pentium(R)
CPU B940 @ 2.00GHz
2.00 GHz
4.00 GB RAM
64-bit operating system
If it is not possible, please tell me why? I'm thinking it is because I have an on-board graphics card... Is it possible to get an NVIDEA card for my laptop?

Hold down the Windows key and then press R. In the Run dialog that appears, type into it "dxdiag" without the quotes and press Enter. Then when the DirectX Diagnostics program appears: go to the "Display" tab and then in the "Device" section post what the "Name" says.
Chances are it's the display not meeting minimum requirements. Post that name anyway and we'll see.

i have the same problem as this guy. here is my graphics card: Intel HD Graphics 3000. this works for bioshock 1 just fine (at least the demo, havent gotten bioshock 1 on computer yet)

never mind, i found a way to get around the message. open the task manager with ctrl alt delete and then use the arrows and enter key to go to the one labeled message. when you have the message up, just press enter again to select the ignore the problem option, then enjoy your game (or not, you DO have a bad graphics card, and i had to lower my settings to be able to play.)

I almost have the same problem. Bioshock 1 works on my tower no problem, Bioshock 2 i get the message about my specs (Alt+tab until message window pops up and hit enter). Then the game worked until i alt+tabbed to windows to check the time. Now when I go to play I can't even get to the main menu (APPCRASH). Any Ideas, Anyone?

I can't get the game to start either. I played this about 6 months ago (left the game installed, did not install on any other computer or anything), then when I came back to replay it, right after I hit "Play" the disk would start reading, but then nothing would ever happened. One time it even asked me to perform an analysis and then send it to SecuROM. I did that, and they told me that there was nothing wrong with SecuROM, but something is wrong with the game. They told me to contact 2k.
I have re-installed the game twice, and even purchased a new disk, and installed that, but it is not working. I do not meet the minimum specifications, but it used to pop up a dialog box like another user said above, and once I opened the task manager I used to be able to start the game and play it. Now that dialog box doesn't even appear.
Lenovo/ThinkPad Edge 15 (0301)
CPU: Dual Core Intel Core i5/2.67ghz (can Turbo Boost to like 2.97ghz)
RAM: 4GB
LCD: 15.6"/1366x768
OS: Windows 7 Professional x64 (SP1)
GPU: Intel HD Graphics 3000(Integrated)
Please help! I love this game and want to replay it. I am also having this same problem with Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, and am hoping that the solution to this game will fix the problem with Splinter Cell, too.
Thank you in advance!
EDIT: I also have been having no issued with Bioshock 1 and have been able to replay it recently flawlessly.

Okay, I reset my computer to the factory shipped condition, and now it works.

Did you ever get the program to run? I bought a retail disk 2 weeks ago and nothing happens after clicking 'play' - the timer wheel times out, no error or warning messages - including no tech support from 2K. Trolled throug all of the suggestions reset, updated, reloaded -and still nothing..
