And honestly, there's just as much GL spam on either console, the only difference between the consoles is that PS3 online play is free, so EVERYONE who gets BS2 plays it online, so there are tonnes of newbies who use the noobtube as compared to the Xbox. On Xbox the online players are always the same people, so no more noobies (and the ones that are there either quit because of the regulars or get the achievements and then quit). Anyone who stays eventually polishes their skills and moves away from the GL primary.

I however have gotten more hate mail on xbox than I have on PS3 so I can't personally confirm the whole PS3ers are more harsh with comments. I do find though that the PS3 players tend to be more... into themselves with their self promotion, with the exceptions of the more mature players.
In simple terms i will have some fun then haha. On xbox I barely ever get hate mail so the opposite might happen on PS3. And thanks for the clear up Lance.

@BEZQ: Just wait and see then. haha

First paragraph: Well, in a way I think that's a somewhat accurate comparison. I'm not trying to be confrontational, but in my experience it's more acceptable to stun an opponent multiple times in the xbox community than it is in the ps3 community. I have no doubt that the lag difference plays a huge role in that.

Second paragraph: I have a feeling that (at least part of) Frank's statement is partially my fault. I invited him to our text chat room without warning him as to the personalities that frequent it, nor did I tell anybody else I was inviting him let alone explain who he is beforehand. The 1on1 match that followed (me arranging it) was a bit of a disaster (not me vs. him, btw)... apparently 1on1 match etiquette and common groundrules also differ between the xbox and ps3 vets... If I had known, I would have ensured more specifics in the communication beforehand. It's true, that old adage about assuming...

I have no doubt that he received a share of hatemail on his own from ps3 players, but I still feel bad about that evening. If you read this, Frank... I'm sorry for introducing you to my circle of friends with such disastrous results. Under better circumstances I have to hope it would have been a less hostile welcome to our side of Rapture. I just hope that he doesn't consider ALL of us to be that way towards every stranger.

What is ps3 1v1 rules? I would have though it would be similar to 360, no nades, no rez, no Bid Daddy, no suicides

I don't think there are rules. This guy keeps challenging me and I told him I will play him 1v1 when he takes GL and rez out of his loadout and he is accusing me of "making excuses" (because the first time he challenged me I told him I was having connection issues-which is true). I've been unplugging my router before I play to reset it and my lag has improved. It's still there, but at least I don't have to wait for doors to open and then appear in the next room. The funny thing is I would have had 8 or 9 kills against him in our last CTS match if he didn't have rez equipped. I put him down and then a teammate who is also using grenades and rez bails him out while I wait for him to rez.

You forgot that the challenger has to be host so there can't be any excuses against the person they challenge.

In general rules, yes those all apply. (as well as no turrets/vendor hacks)

Usually when we do 1v1's on ps3 it's set up for others to watch from the sidelines, so we will usually play on medical or HFTP.

I guess the main difference (from what I gather) is that (at least with us) 1v1's center around the larger, main area of the map... Both players will try to meet up in the main area (where the spectators are watching), face off, whoever gets killed will respawn and make their way back to the main area of the map (where your victor is still there waiting for you) and face off again... as opposed to what would be more like a SOTF match with just 2 players where you're both moving all over the map and facing off in random places. In general, setting traps and hiding or running all over the place is not how we traditionally do 1v1's. Not that I'm saying either mindset is better, I'm just saying that the unwritten rules seem to be different.

Please tell me how 1v1's usually play out on xbox. In my short time there I never got to see one. (also, please don't read any sarcasm or hostility into my post. I think this is a legit area of discussion as to the difference between the communities)

I reset my modem and router every night before I start playing. I notice an improvement in my connection when I do that. Also, don't you just love the hand-holding rez faqs?

Also, on ps3 we will usually have a third person (neither of the 2 competitors) as the host so the lag factor is as fair as possible and neither competitor has host advantage..

On 360 it's fairly standard no rez, no daddy no nades no suicide. Traps are ok but I rarely use them. Host is either neutral or if you don't have anyone to host I let the other person do it, which was a mistake last night when I 1v1's Mootzero, I still pulled away for a fairly easy win but the connection was impossibly bad. I tend to play all mine on Medical or Dionysis

My all in one GL build (meant for CTS and CW)

Grenade Launcher-Velocity Boost/Rate of Fire/Vanilla (all seem to work well although I use VB)
Machine Gun-Firing Boost or Mag Size

    Telekinesis
    Winter Blast

    Speedy Hacker
    Deadly Machines
    Fast Feet

I tried this with Death Trap over FF and it was an epic fail. The idea is to hack and use barrels as much as possible. Both tk and wb can be used to stun/slow down an opponent. If used with the machine gun it can lead to a quick kill. WB also shorten hack time and in CTS and CW you need to be fast.

I'd replace Speedy hacker with repairman since you have winterblast, anyways.

People tend to break turrets with deadly machines boost since it is quite annoying.
Either do this or create an extra loadout with the intent of repairing turrets.

Wow, just had my best session ever using one basic loadout with an alt character (level25):

    SG RoF
    MG/firing boost

    TK
    Houdini

    Eve Saver
    Back Stabber
    Expert researcher

Basically a low level AK loadout. My first game, which is usually horrible, I managed to go 18-4, which is outstanding for me. This was without a BD suit or anything, almost all the kills were shotty. Because of the good start, I was constantly teamed with lower players, against players of higher rank. Like 30 and above, including some 50 rebirths. Next game was 16-4, then 20-4! I know these are normal stats for most of you guys. But for me, it was unreal. Played about four more games, my worst k/d ration being a 20-8 game. It actually pushed my k/d ratio on the official stats to over 2/1, and I've never done better than maybe 1.45/1.

The key was no panic today, good aim, and just some luck thrown in. Even res didn't give me a hassle. I did well with standing on the person as they tried to res. Even frustrated a wannabe suicide with a TK toss back of his nade. Felt nice to have a day like that FOR ONCE!

p.s. Yep, nothing really useful in this post. Just felt like acknowledging a fun session. Well, except to mention that I now understand the power of the SG RoF. I had preferred the sawed off, but not after today.

Something I'm going to try and see what happens.

    Grenade Launcher-Velocity Boost
    Elephant Gun-Damage Increase

    Electro Bolt
    Aero Dash

    Expert Research
    Eve Saver
    Fast Feet

The idea is to hit them with a nade and follow up with a eg body shot. I wonder it this would be a two hit kill? Especially coupled with expert researcher. I know two nade's followed up by a hit with electro bolt takes someone down regardless of any of the upgrades used.

@TxBuckeye:You got me good today. I was wonder why I was taking damage after I cleared out the turret area. I realized it was you when I was on death cam. Good Game. I wasn't expecting that.

Bah, not really. I was in the game two minutes. You just happened to be there when I decided to climb up in the vent since the game was almost over. I was hoping to play WITH you, not against you. As CTS is probably my least favorite mode, once the second game began with me on the other team, I decided to go off and do some CW. Even that didn't last long (as you'll see in the vent thread). I ended up logging off and reading. But hey, at least we finally hooked up! I've now played with you, BrutalBarbie, and a couple other forum members this week. That's a first.

It was good seeing you in game. I play CTS like CW myself. If I get the sister I get the sister. I don't really focus on it. I racked up 28 kills and like 12 deaths. Netted about 1450 adam that match. It was crazy. I wished you were on my team. I'd love to see you play. I'm having a good time with the Grenade Launcher. With Velocity Boost you have to aim.

It'll happen. I seem to spend a lot of time JUST missing you. We'll hook up sooner or later! You need to let me know who else you usually play with. I'll try and add them also. Have to admit, didn't think I'd get back in to this. But I finished Skyrim and am not motivated to learn a new game right away, so I've been playing more than I ever expected. Even if it is a borrowed copy of the game.

The only time I ever use the NG is if I run a BD loadout. Otherwise, one good zap and you are toast waiting on it to rev up.

Whenever I get to play again I'm going to use a challenge loadout. I want to see if I can pull this off and get a win is SOTF.

    Machine gun-firing boost/mag size/k.reduction (haven't decided yet)
    none
    Incinerate/insect swarm/winter blast/telekinesis (haven't decided yet)
    none
    Expert Researcher
    Metabolic Eve
    or
    Metabolic Eve
    Fast Feet
    or

    Fast Feet

With the last one I'd just have to hit vending machine more. Might be the best tonics to use.

I want to really see if my skills have improved, even though I'm mostly using the noobtube. Does anyone use kickback reduction? It seem to fire at the same rate as the pistol with auto fire does. At least to me. I just need to decide on which one would be best for a chance at winning.

Anyone got a good loadout for the no plasmid win challenge.

The only purpose for this is if your aim is truly terrible and you have a real hard time with the MG raising up as you fire. Generally, it's a worthless mod. Better to take magazine size if you plan to use it at distance or firing boost if you plan to use it in close.

Agreed. I love the firing boost upgrade..Sinclair Solutions is so worth the buck imo. Every weapon upgrade, except the nailgun one is great imo.

    CTS loadouts

    Defender
    Grenade Launcher-V.Boost
    Machine Gun-Mag Size

    Geyser Trap
    Electro Bolt

    Deadly Machines
    Metabolic Eve
    Eve Saver

The whole idea is to camp where the sister is at and use g/t to secure the area and nade the door ways/halls if anyone get near.

    Capture (the Xen (zen) loadout)
    Pistol-Damage Increase
    Machine Gun-Firing Boost

    Insect Swarm
    Telekinesis

    Metabolic Eve
    Eve Saver
    Fast Feet

General purpose and a fun loadout to run (my favorite). Blind them with bee's and shoot away.

    Anti-Big Daddy

    Pistol-Automatic Fire
    Machine Gun-Mag Size

    Insect Swarm
    Incinerate

    Death Trap
    Big Game Hunter
    Fast Feet

No real reason just try to kill the big daddy guarding the little sister. No nade's in this one either.

I am probably going to regret sharing my loadouts...

These are what I was using, I think I am going to go back to them.

    CTS

    Defender:

    Elephant Gun (damage)
    Machine Gun (Mag Size)

    Geyser Trap
    Electro Bolt

Fast Feet (sometimes Repairman if i am against "turret busters")
    Deadly Machines
    Speedy Hacker

    Big Daddy Takedown:

    Shotgun (ROF)
    Nail Gun (damage)

    Insect Swarm
    Aero Dash

    Leg Up
    Fast Feet
    Expert Research

    Hunter/Killer

    Elephant Gun (damage)
    Pistol (auto)

    Telekinesis
    Houdini

    Eve Saver
    Fast Feet
    Leg Up

Main problem is my houdini and AD, don't always work because of the lag. When I get the DLC there will be some better options.

I think at one point last night we had the whole area geyser trapped up. The defender loadout proved itself last night though.

Trying an "all headshot" loadout.... In fact I tried it today, but plan on using it more in the future

    Elephant Gun (nothing)
    Crossbow (damage increase)

May as well make that ele gun slug cap or even sniper, there is literally no draw back to either upgrade as compared to vanilla

I actually am worse with sniper scope, I feel better with its ironsights. and I don't have the dlc for slug capacity. Plus the damage increase isn't really useful to me imho. Too slow to shoot and it still takes two shots even with no upgrade. Thats why I keep it vanilla.

Might become my endgame first loadout.

I've been using this loadout like crazy lately, mostly to break up the GL monotony.

I really wish I could do the freeze/aero combo. The lag won't allow it though. I think that would be a great one to use.

    A one two punch.

    Crossbow-Damage Increase
    Machine Gun-Firing Boost

    Electro Bolt

Body shot with the CB then follow up with the machine gun. Using the CB to take out a chunk of life and the MG is just good clean up. You could use head hunter over ER but I'm not all that good at head shots.

Good luck with that Loadout xen But I would switch ME for Leg Up. ME does practically nothing imho. With Leg Up, you can explore new places, become a harder target to hit and reach higher floors faster And its so much fun to use.

Another "Cheap" Spook loadout I'm play testing.

    Machine gun-firing boost
Pistol-ammo capacity (I love this little gun)

    Houdini
    Aero Dash

    Eve Saver
    Leg Up
    Fast Feet

This is also meant to be my sister capture loadout.

    The Tank

    Machine Gun-Mag Size
    Grenade Launcher-Rate of Fire

    Geyser Trap
    Electro Bolt

    Expert Researcher
    Repairman
    Deadly Machines

Mostly it's used to secure the sister and use any turrets to my advantage. With a research bonus there even more deadly.

General Assault Loadout. With this one I went back to the basics and just messed around with a non GL loadout.

    Crossbow-rate of fire
    Pistol-ammo capacity

    Electro Bolt
    Geyser Trap

    Speedy Hacker
    Metabolic Eve
    Eve Saver

I just love using this basic loadout. Spend all day Sunday using it again. Although at times I did switch geyser trap with telekinesis just for barrels. However I got more kills through the use of Geyser Bolts.

I need to start using the EG again. I am so used to the crossbow that I use the EG the exact same way. the smaller hitspace is really screwing me up. I completely miss everything I try hitting. Guess I need more practice

And I am falling in love with Houdini. That is all.
