What does WinterBlast really do?

Besides freezing and boosting melee damage, does it boost the damage of guns as well? What kind of damage does winterblast boost? Piercing? I read that speargun's damage gets boosted alot after a winterblast.

Also, if an enemy is set on fire, he will not take fire damage for the duration of being frozen, if you choose to freeze him after setting him on fire?

Winter blast boosts the damage of all damage inflicted except for fire damage. Winter Blast will put out fire and fire will melt winter blast.

Okay thanks for the answer. I also have another question. Does walking inferno boost the damage of firestorm (and other similar pairings like electrical flesh boosting the damage of electrical storm)?

As far as I remember yes, they effect the strength of all elemental type attacks. So pairing Electric flesh, electric Storm, Electric Buck and Electro Bolt you get a nasty combination.
