Game stoppage at end of liberty tree

The bonus granted for completing the liberty tree is a free great person of your choice. Once I get to this decision and click on the gold bar to get it, no window pops up. Nothing happens. Effectively my game is over at this point since I cannot do an end turn.
I have had this happen twice in a row and have not played civ5 in a few months, so I'm suspecting a bug in the new patch? I don't know if this also applies to free policies or technologies as well.
The addons I'm using are all of the single wonder addons (there's a bunch), Beyond the future, Government buldings and Tree growth. All addons are fully updated.
Up to this point I have had no gameplay issues, no lag, nothing that may be a red flag that something bad may be coming down.
If anyone has run into this or better yet, if anyone knows how to fix this please let me know!

There should also be a yellow circle that allows you to pick the great person above the bar. Click on that. However, I have found that when running under mods that sometimes even the circle doesn't work.

One other thing that I have found, after one of the patches, was that the bar would show the entire tech tree, while the beaker would show the current techs available for research.

The little bubble with the ! in it didn't work either. I'm wondering if there is a bug with the beyond the future addon since it has the most to do with changes in the tech trees? Has anyone else had any similar issues?
