I saw there was a thread about Call of Duty and none about Battlefield, and that was just unacceptable. Anyway, discuss Battlefield here, be it 1942, Heroes or anything inbetween.
EDIT: For anyone who has for whatever reason not played Battlefield yet, there are a couple of free-to-play spin-offs of the series you can try:
Battlefield Heroes: the hyper-absurd 3rd-person slightly WWII-based costume party that is Battlefield Heroes consists of semi-large maps, insane outfits, vehicle warfare (jeeps, tanks, planes), three classes and two unique teams: the Royals (a sort of blend of the US and British armies) and the Nationals (Mostly Nazis, but with a hint of USSR). Quite different from other Battlefield games, but it still has at least a similar feel as far as some of the maps and the vehicle combat go. Something worth noting is that once you pick a team and a class you are stuck with it. Forevers. You can create multiple soldiers, though. Also, you have to pay money for guns and clothes. *Ahem* You will be able to find some clear similarities between this game and Team Fortress 2, but there are not all too many of them.
Battlefield Play4Free: the least originally named game in history. This game stays much more true to the series- which is hard to avoid, since it's basically a modified version of Battlefield 2. This game is first-person and is much more realistic, as it does not share the cartoon style of Heroes. It keeps some of the features originally unique to Heroes, such as character customization and having soldiers be committed to certain classes. However, you are not stuck with either team- teams cycle every other round. Surprise time: the teams are America and Russia. Yeah. Again, you pay for your guns and stuff. Worth noting: points you buy in Play4Free will be able to be spent in Heroes, and vice versa. This game features entertaining infantry combat, tanks, jet fighters, boats, amphibious APCs, normal APCs, combat helicopters, transport helicopters, little annoying helicopters, jeeps... the works. I hear it sort of resembles Counter-Strike, but I wouldn't know because I've never played CS.
