Who Is The Person That Influenced You?

The player or friend who influenced you to what you are now. Can't help to think that you guys had someone like that to. I wouldn't be here without my bestfriend Nova.

I honestly don't think I was ever influenced by anyone in how I played, (well maybe in the type of play that I would avoided using.)

I've been like that for every game, it's more fun to discover things for yourself, and you learn what you are best at, (instead of just using what everyone else uses like 80% of pretty much any online community.)

Bioshock was my first multiplayer and thus I've been influenced by many people...

Andariel Letz, Catryn and Blackdeath280 influenced me to buy a headset and play as a team. Dmac influenced me to switch to crossbow after repeatedly shooting my head from the farmers market balcony across the map, to throw barrels, and to ditch res. Gunner influenced me to jump more, no-stun and plain mess-around. Countless others have influenced me to just get better.

I will say that my Jumping wasn't influenced by Gunner but my Shock Jumping was. I didn't know that you could do headshots that way intill i met him.

Gameplay wise i have only been influenced by two people and that would be :

Jaymie Timmer - I pretty much learned all that i know now from him, i give him all the credit because without him i would not be who i am today in bioshock. I learned so many tricks form him, so much info about the bioshock world.

xGODoINoAoBOXx -he taught me a couple of neat tricks and was actually the first person to introduce no stunning to me as a means of having fun and messing around.

These were definitely my biggest influences gameplay wise, its amazing now that i look back on it

Fotaine- With how much I've played against him there's no way he hasn't influenced me (gameplay wise) at least a little. Added a lot to my mentality as well... in a weird way.

Nine- Probably has taught me the most about Bioshock. Turned me into more of a team player and helped me be a better teammate. Helped with my map control as well. Oh and I stole her loadout...

Dmac- When I started playing a twisted my playstyle to be more aggressive. Also cemented my don't leave matches mentality.

Corp and Frenzy- When I started playing with them they were really carefree so I kinda picked up on that. Also Frenzy probably had the biggest influence on my no-stunning.

PeachBomb- A very good player and just improved my play-style generally. It was nice to have someone on the other side who was worthy of killing.

LanceGloryTower- A Nice player and a good sport, if any one has influenced me to be less stressed about winning then it's him.

I'd say Siren was the only one that has had any affect on me, taught me afew tricks with TK and turrets. and of course, how to double hax.

Noone has really changed me or that, I kinda just play like how I play. change on who I'm fighting accordingly. I get messages telling me how I changed people though.

Gameplaywise mainly Diabo360, secondary Fluvie who motivated me to improve my Shotgun skills as well as AD (oh yeah and BoxSpam but i dont use that really). He gave me the last rest to get one of the best all loadout players..
Also to mention is Assassinator222 but more in a mental way. We motivated each other to start a lil bit with no stunning and pure mess around private matches...Oh man these KeK matches were hilarious...Great guy

dwg (JUMPING!!), Venom (Somewhat), Judge (Got me interested in EB substitutes), Cleo (Fully interested in no stuns), and Phly (Things here and there, errwhere).

There are probably others, but I can't remember.

JPHIZZAL3. He's still the best NG user I've ever played. He was the only person I was terrified to play against. He made me recognize the sheer power of NG. Proves you don't need stuns for NG to be effective (i.e. no bees).

I'm not sure who it was exactly, but it was a paradigm shift in CTS when someone figured out how to Leg Up and grab the Sister at theh same time. Leg Up was in one of my loadouts after I found that out...

Nailgun shines the most without any particular plasmid use. It is probably the most powerful and consistent of all the weapons without the aid of any plasmid. Paired with Aerodash, it more or less covers the blatant weak point; The start up rev.

Final Fantasy reference?! You are now my favorite Nailgun, primary user.

I was the first known to utilize the Sister Jump Technique. It was at first a modification of placing a geyser trap and subsequently grabbing the little sister and using the already placed geyser trap to bypass the sister pick-up animation. The discovery was a mistake on my part from the use of unfamiliar remapped jump button on L3. I noticed one could place a jump before the grab and use the momentum to do an initial jump, without having to worry about the seemingly long animation. I've found a couple little applications and strategies with this technique that I will possibly share to the bio community in the future. ;]

While I suppose that could be construed as a FFXIII reference, that was not my intent. Perhaps FF should get the credit for having the phrase become more commmonly used in every day conversation, however I don't think it created the term.

That said...let's call LS Leg Up: TIDE TURNER (Saboteur + Synegist). I'm not a fan of XIII for several reasons, one of them it being responsible for destroying two of my PS3 60GBs, so I sort of hold a grudge. Gran Pulse is the destroyer of gen 1 PS3s...

Ehh...sort of got off on a tangent there...anyway...

Well, thanks for that then. You forver changed the way CTS is played. At first I hated when people did it, but now I use it so...I guess I don't hate it anymore!

The players who have influenced me/helped me. In no particular order.

BrutalxBarbie and Schrodinger8Meow: For taking me to a private match and help me with headshots and tweaking my controller sensitivity. BxB still drags me into "for fun" matches.

R3drumonkey (think I got that right) Only played him a few time (1 public and I think 2-3 private) helped me work out kinks in my play style/loadout. Same with BxB and Kalim

PhlyPinoy:For just be an encouragement in my continue play of this game.

Ndolger: Oh, how your nailgun frustrates me. However I can't deny the raw adam harvesting power of your loadouts. Netted me between 800+ adam to 1425 adam in a single match. The 1425 was from completing two trials.

Most of the people here. Yes in some way or fashion you have helped me figure this game out. The video's that inspire some of my loadout to the friends that I haven't mentioned.

To AstroCreep and Venomdarkness for inviting me to several insanely fun matches. We should do that again.

phlypinoy for repeatedly reminding me no to get too close to opponents by killing me with slugger.

oldschooldevil for staying in a match with me when we were losing and outnumbered and still pulled off a win.

EB/CB/GL on the same loadout level 50s for making me hate the community so much that I want to teabag all of them, thus making me play better.

Seriously that is a cheap loadout, anyone could be good with it. That is the main reason I don't use the CB. It doesn't seem like it takes any skill. EB/CB oops missed, now I will shoot a grenade.

In terms of playstyle (MG+TK); none, honestly. I've found out later, though, that I pretty much have the same loadout as AK Downfall

But after about 350 hours, I decided to substitute the GL with the Crossbow, ROF style as my secondary. I'll credit mostly Fotaine, Gunner & dmac for that.

Yep you do run the same loadout as me haha.
As for who influenced me....hard to say. I started using Telekinesis when I reached level 12 and I didn't fight anyone who used it against me to make me want to use it.
Didn't fight anyone with Rof to make me use it since back then everyone used EB headshotting.

In simple terms. I don't think anyone influenced me, BUT I will say that everyone encouraged me to not stick to the norm of using the EB Headshotting. Also on the side note, Gunner persuaded me to use Deathtrap I have to give him thanks for that. I love getting double kills with it.

Death trap is never not funny... unless it kills you. BTW, have you ever been in a match that was so laggy you respawn, manage to run near where you last died and you die from your own death trap? and BD takedowns with death trap are always good for laughs, as are the times when you can take out 2, 3, even 4 enemies with one blast. (RQ's usually follow that event).

As for me contributing to the topic at hand... It's hard for me to say who influenced me the most. When the game came out I was pretty much a blank slate as far as FPS MP games, so I had plenty to soak up. Also, most of the players I associated with in the old days are no longer playing, and the alcohol-soaked mind tends to over-write information.

But, out of the players that I still remember, Nike89 inspired me to work with the crossbow for headshots (I never could stack up to him) and I think it was Netorious (I could be wrong) who inspired me to work with the EG. and I blame Rybow's videos for giving me the idea of using the lawnchair as a secondary in my main headshot loadout, a bad habbit I'm not sure I'll ever break... just too lazy.

I know I'm overlooking somebody as an inspiration to work on no-stun headshots... but currently, Greyfox inspires me to try harder at no-stuns. Whenever we end up against eachother it's usually a pretty fun trade-off of jumpy no-stun EG headshots interspliced with me uttering my trademark phrase, "bull ☺☺☺☺!"

I know I'm forgetting a lot of names... but that's what I could think of at the moment...

I haven't been in an event like that. I've in one event where I respawned before my death trap went off and I killed someone. And I barely ever die from other players death trap so my statement of Death trap being fun still stand.

likewise. Funny how it'll teach you not to hang around just because you cleared the room... tho, certain veteran players still fall for it on a regular basis even tho they know you use it... cough...

My two biggest influences, were and still are (since i only have 150 hours) Gunner and Frank. Probably a little bit more Gunner but that is just because he was kind enough to destroy me in survival until I got it right. That helped with map awareness, control, and speed. While Frank was mostly tips and tricks on how to become a better headshotter with the cross bow.

Also, I can't forget Corp and Dmac, they were my two biggest rivals when I was just beginning to play.

  40. #40
Dmac & Corpulent drunk. Love you guys. They took me under their wing or I'd probably still be pretty clueless/bad if they haden't. After I met them I got good.
