Exclamation New trailer - "What is The Darkness?"

IGN's posted a new trailer for The Darkness II. Check it out!

This one gives a bit of background on The Darkness itself, and its relationship with Jackie. In addition, it's narrated by Johnny Powell, a character we'll be talking a bit more about soon

Looks really damn good. Can't wait to see how this game turns out and how they will take the story from the first game. Although some don't really like the new artstyle, I'm really enthused with how similar it looks to the graphic novels. Just find that distinctly appropriately.

Holy sh*t that trailer was epic, one of the best I've ever seen for a game. The comic book style recap of the story was brilliantly told, & it somehow managed to make me even more pumped for February, bring it on!

IGN's video player was a little choppy though, if anyone else is having the same problem here it is on YouTube.

Yeah it was a great trailer, but i think it would have been better if Johnny Powell would not have seemed so...well...hyper.

I'm really sorry, cel-shading is cool and all. But this is horrible and awful. It's one big eyesore in the whole trailer (which manages to look half-decent and undoubtedly, well directed)

And it's not the fact that does not give off the proper Darkness vibe (I haven't seen a garage any near as bright in the comics either), no. It just looks like a cheap workaround.
Look, if this 'hand painted graphic noir' mumbo-jumbo is an excuse for sub-par undetailed texturing (not to offend the artists) and near-non-existant lighting - then just be brave and say so.
I know it's really hard to make a game look good with cel-shading, but why bother then? What are you trying to prove?

Honestly, I used to follow your ideas on this... but I guess I'd say I'm over it by now after seeing what Gears 3 did with their color scheme too. It's not as colorful as Borderlands (though I'd definitely prefer realism), and as much as I miss the gritty gothic visuals, it seems to be animated nicely enough for me to suck it up (I'm here for the story anyways). I don't think it's to leave out detail (it WAS painted by hand, after all, which requires a lot of work). As long and some dark, sick, and demonic settings are introduced, I'll pardon the occasional rainbow city.

We can't change it this late into development, so sadly, I've accepted it and put all of the good things about the sequel to my attention beforehand. (I joined this site back in 2008 to BEG for a sequel, I should be happy I'm getting one at all)

That being said, this trailer is animated and told really nicely. Good work, 2K.

He's supposed to be a junkie type of character, from what I heard.

Has anyone noticed that they made Jackie significantly more attractive in this game? Like, his appearance hasn't changed much, but his face kind of did.

Honestly, I was talking about that one particular shot being an eyesore. It just pops. I noticed it before and it just haunts me.
Some of the shots manage to look good, I agree.

Kirk Acevedo going in right now is the only remaining selling point for me.
