pop 24 and 1k fame at the 1 week game pace plus team recruitment

so I'm stumped now on how to obtain these 2 achivements at the new pace
I've reached pop 21 on the 2 week games. Not sure how to get there on the 1 week games.
I've tried doing full prod start and do nothing but barb jumping the entire time to the point of once every 12 hours. I've gone full prod until level 8 and then each additional pop have done food. I've botton nothing but prophets and builders and have a few artists.
I'm at 15 prop 9 builders, and 5 artists. And only at pop 13 now.
I've done nothing but sell all of my production at a profit only after getting 300 armies. (enough to claim any barb jump I need to)
I'm only pop 15 now. What is the trick for pop 24 on the fast pace game now?
    can it be done?
I'm going to try this strat one more time but go no more than 5 builders and all prophets to see if that helps.

The other thing is the 1k fame
I'm not sure if this can be done short of buying my way to this achievement inclussive of winning each era.
    Ideas anyone?

Also will be starting a new game soon.

I have 1 other person on my team (my roomie)
I have always placed top 10 and usually win 33% of my games so far.
If you are interested in joining my team please send me a private message.
    Thanks

I think to do 24 pop you have a couple options, but they both stem from the same base:

get into a runaway civ and so that everyone else doesn't log in anymore.

You can either do this by trying to find a pretty passive game, taking the lead, starting the runaway, but then use universal healthcare (or whatever the +25% food -25% gold civic is) instead of patent office, and then go passive yourself, or you can go with a group of friends and make a small runaway civ, get everyone else to stop logging in and then go passive.

As for 1k fame, I don't think that's actually significantly harder than before. Ignore the first 3-4 eras, get a good foundation, and then be king/prince for all of the rest of them. For an easier time try to get to Hollywood before invoking culture muli-era win-o-rama.

and you have achieved both of these since the game changes?
    wtf is a runaway civ?

Which particular changes are you talking about? I got the 24 population once and don't really feel like doing it again. I haven't gotten 1k since the most recent patch, but I've also been messing around more and helping friends. I've gotten over 1k four or five times though, and I don't think the game has changed that significantly since then... if anything, I think it'd probably be easier now with the culture/great people change. It always was, and still is, about the late game. And nothing has changed there.

A runaway civ is one which starts dominating all of the eras. I think I've been in a civ that won every single era once, and certainly in a civ which has won all but 3 early eras (and I'm not talking about the game where I demonstrated the exploit) several times. Once you start dominating like that, most people in the other civs stop bothering to play in your game.

I guess it's possible as there are more and more people who are experienced at the game, the games are generally faster so it's harder to find a passive game. All of my games, including the ones where I scored over 1k, are usually done in 5-6 days (not including farm time), but that's because I play a pretty efficient game. It would be pretty hard to get 24 pop in that timeframe though. If all games are only taking a week now, and not just the ones I'm in, then I'd suggest trying to get a few friends together to create a runaway civ and make people give up, and then farming food instead of finishing the game off.

Oh another idea is if you can find a friend to help you, and the two of you worked together to try and get you to 24 pop, you might still be able to do it in a week. You'd still have to do enough to get into the winning civ, and get them to invoke universal healthcare too though probably.

If you had 2 friends helping you I'm about 90% sure you could do it in 5-6 days.

every game i play we are the top civ
so i dont know what you are even talking about as far as runaway civ
and I said in post 1
i have a roomie that teams with me every game
so i guess unless you have something more specific to add.
the vague replies aren't helping me any.

Are you talking about 24 pop or 1k fame? What you have to do for each of those is different, so you may be confused because I've been talking about both too.

For 24 pop, what you have to do once you are sure you are in the civ which is going to win, is to stop helping the civ win at all and instead concentrate on food. If you have found a passive enough game, then people won't be rushing for era wins and you'll have plenty of time to get to 24 food.

If you are talking about 1k fame, you led off with

so I'm stumped now on how to obtain these 2 achivements at the new pace
    (emphasis mine)

to which I respond that I don't think the time frame difference, if it exists, changes matters much. You'd do nothing differently now than before.

If you are asking how to get 1k in general, I would have answered your question differently (or possibly ignored it :P)

The key to getting the 24 pop achievement nowadays is to team up with 3-4 mates, use fertility rites as often as possible and have your teammates sell all their food to you at very low price as soon as they have ~8 citizens.

    24 pop:

Concentrate on food and great prophets. Get in a big civ (25+ members) and have the highest farmer. Advertise dowry on chat often. In the first days everyone is going for food dowries so in a big civ if everyone finds you, you get insane amounts of food.
In my current game i have size 17 on day 5 with this, while having only one farmer after hitting size 12, and constantly selling my food over 450 since then. And i stopped getting prophets after 10.
So if you keep concentrating on food, 24 pop should be possible.

About 1k fame (the only one i am missing): i think it's definitely harder now, because domination victories are more frequent. After the patch in all of my games there was a small group of military players getting a lot of domination victories. The runaway civ got all the science, economic and culture ones, but voting takes very long in a 25+ player civ, so only a few domination ones.
But if you get a game full of casual players, then getting into the runaway civ, and staying king/prince all the time should be enough for 1k fame.

Or, find a dead game with friends, have them sell you everything in sight, and have them help stall the game in the inperial era, and go ape with civbucks, and get to 24 pop in the early imperial era. The 50 civbucks a day makes it pretty easy, should you choose to use that route.
