Game 3477 bug with troops numbers

I seem to have lost about half my rifleman. I think I had over 900 and now I'm down to 468. They weren't in any battle, just waiting for couple of battles to start.
There was no upgrade to troops which could account for that numbers, and other players in my civ didn't loose their numbers.

Did they have riflemen in the same battle at yours, at the same time?
Seems like your enemy used Call to Arms or Secret Weapons. That's exactly what it does, destroys half your melee and ranged units.

I thought that may be it, but it seemed to silly.
Are you telling me that with couple of "secret weapons" it's possible to make 2000+ troops stack reduced to 250? (use that wonder 3 times)
Is it limited in any way?
It seems as too much advantage for a small price.

With using it three times, yes.
Is it limited in any way?
It's limited in that only 3 out of 8 possible wonder events are available at any given moment, in that you need to pay Great People to use it and in that you could have prevent it by building it yourself if you were concerned that somebody might use it against you.

How is it an advantage? There's an event for a defender and the other for an attacker. Both sides have equal chances. And it only works against the troops in the battlefield. Your troops have no business in the field before the battle actually starts.
