So few farmers

I was wondering:

When I have workers or merchants, there are 10 or 12 of them.

When I have farmers, there are only 2 to 6 of them.

Why are there so few farmers? Do I need to throw a drunken barn dance or something???

Yes. A drunken barn dance is exactly what you need to do.

Build the barn (also called a granery) right next to your house. Build your house right next to an orchard. And build an orchard right next to as much water as you can. Ideally three or four sides of water.

Solved the problem- now I've got 8 and 9 ecstatic hung-over farmers.
