    Being scared

Who else loves it? The feeling of absolute dread and complete terror is so freaking great. That feeling that comes along with being so scared that you can't even move is just so awesome and I crave it >:)

PS: I'm referring to artificial dread, not dread that a love one may be in physical danger (etc...)

I love it. I've even tried self-hypnotism to induce nightmares, I watch horror movies, just try and scare myself sometimes. I'm addicted to my own mind and my own adrenaline.

But being scared is awesome. Well I dont get scared but I love it when I get nightmares cause they are always unique and crazy realistic. Like the one where I killed everyone at my school. :P

Nightmares are fun. I guess that makes me a lover of being scared, or should i say being scary.

Don't be Afraid of the Dark was a good movie. Not scary at all, but good (incase somebody was hoping to get a scare from it). Very awesome take on the Toothfairy

I love being scared, I usually get scared before my basejumps, 1-2hours before the actual jump I get quite nervous and while walking up the mountain with my friends and wingmans I sometimes need to throw-up.
But the adrenaline rush in the first 2 sec of the basejump makes you feel like you can conquer the whole world. It makes you feel strong and fearless.

I also love it, but it takes quite a bit for me to feel fear these days. I want to sky dive for a thrill kind of fear, but I seriously cannot remember a game/movie has really scared me that much.

I think I have to agree with FT on this one. I can't remember the last film or game that gave me a proper 'scare'. Being jumpy and being afraid are entirely different things. I went sky diving for the first and only time, about 2 years ago and it was amazing, but again, I don't think it was fear I felt while I fell. It definitely got my heart racing though!

Love it. That's why I like roller coasters, horror movies, creepypasta, etc.

I also work a Haunted House on Halloween because I enjoy delivering scares too.

My brother got this game called "Amnesia: The Dark Decent" and I was hesitant on the idea of playing it, but he wanted me to check it out so I did. Didn't think a game could make you feel that scared! I almost stopped playing it, but always thinking I was near the end, or curiosity of what could be around the corner, so I managed to keep playing. Basically your a helpless man with no memory lost inside a creepy castle - and dungeon - with monsters who are dead set on killing you, but your only defence is to run and hide (actually just hide, since they are faster than you) in as dark a place a possible, since they can't see you in the dark very well...Only problem is when you sit in the dark your character starts to go mad with fear, and the more scared he is the more likely the monsters can find you. The only solution is standing in the light, which makes your character feel better...But now the monsters can see you! You never feel safe the whole game...And also despite my best efforts I kept dying, so it turns out I'd probably die if I was in a similar situation in real life, lol! :S
Terrifying game, but strangely enough after I had completed it, and at least a month had gone by, I started wanting to play it again - very strange, since I found the game too scary to enjoy a lot of the time!

If any of you love that kind of game it's pretty easy to get on Steam, and not that expensive. My challenge to anyone who does is can you beat the game for the first time without dying once?

The ultimate horror game is Dead Space 2.. Its disgusting, demonic, heart pounding, vomit inducing good old horrific fun! The only game that scares me... Who knew buying a game could be so scary?

I haven't play that one, although I saw someone play it for a bit and I think I got the basic idea. Sure it's scary, but it's a different kind of scary from Amnesia...From what I could tell it's a full on shoot'em'up with lots of blood spraying everywhere, with no rest between repetitive action scenes. The first difference is that you are armed in Dead Space 2, and able to defend yourself - even if these monsters are tough and deadly, at least you can do something to stop them - which is unlike Amnesia, where you are utterly defenceless, with no weapons, and the only way to survive is to hide from them and hope they don't see you! I don't know about the overall scariness of the games, but it's certainly more scary when you are completely defenceless than if you're holding a gun! Secondly Dead Space 2 (from what I saw at least) gets you scared by monsters constantly jumping out at you. Amnesia focuses more on getting you to feel scared on your own accord, with disturbing noises and doors swinging open by themselves, so before you even get to see a monster for the first time you are terrified and probably want to stop playing - and it gets worse! Not saying that Dead Space 2 doesn't use sounds to get you scared - I think I remember hearing monsters behind walls and such - but Amnesia does this more, and this is a successful way to make someone feel fear. For a game to make you terrified without blood splatter, running around with a gun, supernatural events, or even that much action, I give it the thumbs up of approval, and I hope they make a sequel! I would certainly buy it if they did.
Also there are that many shoot'em'ups about it almost makes a game something special if it's not a shoot'em'up...No offence to shoot'em'ups, I see the appeal, but there are just way too many out there, and the majority of them look the same!

Dead Space is a failure of a horror game in my opinion. The third person view completely ruins the game

Too many jump scares, as well. I soon shot corpses before they got up, because I knew they would.

Dead space is VERY predictable, never once was I scared, same with Bioshock (except for the part when you get the shot gun and the lights go out.)

    Just.

    Ugh...

Call of Cthulhu and Silent Hill 2, eh? The atmosphere of those games is what really makes them scary. IN Silent Hill 2, you're a man named James Sunderland. You receive a letter from your dead wife telling you to go to Silent Hill, and she'll be "waiting" there for him. He goes there, but soon finds out not all is well. There is a girl named Angela who is all depressed, and there are creepy monsters walking around everywhere, including a seven-foot tall thing with a gigantic pyramid shaped helmet, named "Pyramid Head" You first encounter Pyramid Head raping another of the monsters, and you hide. Then you go to the prison, hospital, and hotel, along with different version of each (more monster-infested.) Angela commits suicide on a flaming staircase, a man you met named Eddie turns out to be crazy and attempts to kill you, and then there's a huge twist, and you fight the final boss. There are four possible endings to the game.

And that's a summary of Silent Hill 2.

Vito explained Silent Hill 2. Call of Cthulhu, you are a detective who investigates a suicidal cult at the local mansion. After seeing strange aliens exit a stranger portal in the basement of the mansion, he wakes up to find himself in the office of his private detective business, even though he worked for the police department. It turns out that he went into a coma, woke up with a different personality and was placed in Arkham Asylum. He woke up with yet another personality and was released, now sane.

Having just now lapsed back into his original personality in the last six months since his asylum release, he continues as a private detective and receives a call stating that the manager of the First National Grocery Store in the strange closed off port town of Innsmouth has gone missing and so has everything in the register.

The Innsmouth police are hiding something, the folk there are strange and twisted looking, and you see strange things in the corner of your eye. This is only a fraction of what you come to see in Innsmouth, and the horrible plot the character unfolds.

The game has heavy stealth, heavy combat, great story line and more including no health meter but instead a system in which bones are broken, skin is busted, and bullet holes must be patched up before death. A sanity meter will gauge if your enemies become stronger or if you lose control, eventually resulting in suicide at full insanity.

They both sound very interesting! Are these games supernatural though? I personally find it more realistic if they're not.
