Hey RedHarlow, it's true that Spec Ops will not be appearing at the show. However, the game's still in heavy development and team's hard at work.
I know that David but the problem with the game are the constant delays and we don't even get some new footage.
The worst is that the game is now delayed beyond march 2012!!!!! That's again a huge delay.
with big games like battlefield 3 coming out I am still pretty excited to see what specops the line and shock studios games will be like, there is something very very addictive about smaller intimate maps and tactical 3rd person gameplay
An awesome game takes time guys.
You mean like Duke Nukem Forever? Look how that turned out.
Your patience is appreciated, guys. There's no need to get after each other!
Good comment krazefan, was about to make the same comment.
I certainly hope that this is the exception to the rule and that the delays and 'polish' trump all, because as we know far too often in this industry:
- total revenue / sales are down
- turnover is running quite high at a number of studios (which oddly enough Yager according to their employment page is hiring for a vast majority of positions available on a AAA title, so I wonder what the finished product will be or if that is just another title in development, could go either way)
- titles are being rushed out the door to make release windows, and there is already a packed release window for next roughly year plus with FPS/TPS entries that are sequels in larger franchises or re-hashes (GOW3, HCE Anniversary, etc)
Coming from someone with many years of experience in and out of the games industry ( I was programming by 5, running my own consulting business in the industry by 18 with offices in Seattle and San Jose ), and someone who has participated in closed betas on a half dozen + titles in the last couple years in addition to a number of open alphas and betas - 2K Games has rushed several of their last titles out the door or have not put enough polish into it.
Let's name a few:
- Civilization 5 (couldn't even get this to run on a system that I confirmed met and exceeded all the min PC requirements and was told by tech support that 'I just have to wait for a patch and nothing I can do and that these issues are known'
- Duke Nukem Forever (enough said, and again where is this supposed patch, that the head of Gearbox Mr. Randy Pitchford himself thought was already released for console, and the PC patch made a number of items worse)
Hopefully things will get better.

Hey guys -
Let's keep this thread on topic with Spec Ops (although if you have questions or comments about any other game feel free to PM me or one of the two community managers or post in the approparite forums for those games!) As for talking about our Beta, please do remember that was a private beta and you are under NDA. That being said, the Beta was very valuable for us and we've been doing a lot to the game in the intervening months (and hiring is a good thing - more minds to make things badass).
Thanks.
Understood regarding the NDA's and that's not a problem to honor.
It is good that 2K decided to take a slow approach to this game and i think the benefit will justify that approach, i say take all the time needed 2K.
I hope this game doesnt have aim assist, xp pop up, health regen and the other trendy crap every game has now, I am hoping for a cool unique 3rd person shooter
hey all, im new around here, and this question may be answerd somewhere, but... does anyone know when "spec ops the line" may be released? i pre-orderd this game over 6 months ago and still have no information about when i may recieve it.. i do know it keeps getting pushed back though. from what i can see now its sometime in the spring of 2012? thanks in advance if anyone has any type of information...
Nice to have you aboard, as for your question about the release date, it has been asked and all we have right now is a possible window, which is from April to September next year. But, nothing is set in stone. Just keep your ears open and hopefully we'll hear something soon.
thanks for the responce, being that i also pre-orderd mw3 and bf3, i guess i will have stuff to keep me ocupied untill this one comes, but when i saw some of the game play on you tube , this game realy sparked my interest. looks like something completely different. so i am realy looking forward to trying out "sptl"... i have to assume with all the delays there are going to make sure that this one comes out with the least amount of bugs that is possible...
is there or will there be a demo or beta for "sptl"? not that it would make any type of impact on my purchase decision, i've waited this long,so a few more months wont kill me. but i would love to be able to give the game a try just to keep me wondering how great it will be once its finally released... is there iny type of game tester list that i could get on perhaps?
Hey, Kilrbud. There was a private beta for Spec Ops last year, but here isn't anything new out there for people to play yet. If there are any other chances to play coming up, we will post about them here!
