Rambling story here as I enjoy my morning coffee...
Turned on Civ5 last ngiht to finish up a France game I had been playing for about 3 days (Large Map / Emperor, with only 9 civs and a couple extra CS). I had no real direction in the game in terms of victory conditions, but had vowed last night to win either by Diplo or Cultural.
I was cruising - about 1000 point lead on everyone else, good-sized army on my border after wiping out the Germans and Siamese, making an ungodly 1600 culture and 250 gold per turn. I'm just clicking "next turn" as fast as I can - very close to winning.
Then I guess I got too close... Bang. Mass declaration of war, and then Catherine proceeds to nuke the bejesus out of me. Felt like she dropped 9 nukes in about 6 turns! First time I'd ever been nuked... dang, what a mess.
So what does one do?? I responded in kindI bought and built nukes and basically pummelled her into the ground, taking most of her cities (essentially clearing the continent) right as my victory loomed. (Is it wrong to actually get a sense of satisfaction by beating up a computer opponent?? I believe I actually said out loud a few times: "Boom! Take THAT b**ch!" )
Interestingly, the Diplomatic vote (I had every single CS allied at the time) occurred about 2 turns from me building the Utopia Project. Left me thinking there should be some sort of 'bonus' (big parade?) for winning with multiple conditions satisfied.
Anyway, no real point here... just already thinking about my next game![]()

Congrats on the victory. Also, yeah, Cathy sure is one... glad you hit her back and stomped her.
