Picked up Dead Iron and Boneshaker today. I've heard they're both great steampunk books.
Also, I plan to see Suckerpunch, which i've heard is a good Steampunk movie.
You should read Leviathan, and it's sequel, Behemoth, and the third book in the series, Goliath. I don't think Goliath is out yet though. They're written by Scott Westerfeld, and they're really good. It's like World War One, but Austria, Germany, an the Ottoman Empire are "Clankers", who use walkers and machines, and Britain, Russia, France, and others use fabricated animals. The plot is sort of hard to explain, but it's a good read.
Hmm, I'll go over my relations to all facets of steampunk culture.
I have some steampunk clothes, but that's about it. No over the top outfits or gears and chains.
Steampunk music wise, I'm obsessed with Dr. Steel and Abney Park... I think the steampunk music scene should be way bigger than it is.
For games and novels, I've read some short stories, no big novels yet, and I play BioShock and ARGO Online. I'm looking forwards to reading more novels when I have the spare time

Aliens? Alternate History? Robots? Yeah, that sounds like Steampunk.

Suckerpunch is a good movie. Also, look up the Automaton. It's a point and click steampunk game, set in the 3000s, but they still use steam for some reason.
I wanted to see Sucker Punch, sort of. But I ended up not going, so yeah.
I'm writing a Steampunk story for School. It's about the Civil War in America, but if the South won, and successfully became an independent nation, and the Civil War continued into the 1900s and WW1. It has Warships, Police Robots, and a 1984-esque Setting.

Ah, other people have read books from Cherie Priest's Clockwork Century series! Awesome! It's pretty good. I've been enjoying it for a while now. Still haven't picked up Ganymede yet. Gotta get on that.

So, i'm writing a Steampunk book for school. (Honestly, i'm gonna try and publish it when i'm done) And I made up a robot called a 'Clockwork Gunner'.

and a Clockwork Gunner stomped onto the second floor of the factory, with two Union officials in old Union Soldier outfits on each side (The Union Soldier outfit had been recycled into an Official uniform. Clockwork Gunners were intimidating to everyone. They weighed at least half a ton, and stood at Ten feet tall. They had two L-shaped legs with Trash Can lid-shaped feet that shook the ground wherever they went. Their torso was the shape of a bullet, or at least that’s what it reminded Alec of, with a large porthole in the middle, which green light poured out of, brightening the gloomy factory and foggy streets. It had a ‘backpack’ of Ammunition on its back, with two massive pipes which spouted a burst of steam after every step. Its Arms were also L-shaped, and instead of hands had two Gatling Guns, which it used whether it is on a Battlefield or on a city street. The Official on the Gunner’s left took out a scroll rolled up and held together by a piece of red ribbon. This can’t be good… Alec thought, hanging his head. Red Ribbons were code for a Casualty.

IDK...It has some risky topics like Religion and Government in it.
I think the mods would let it slide for a story.
I talked to a mod, and we've decided it'd be best not to post it.
