Imporving production?

I'm beginning to figure out how to get my farmers to be more productive, but how do I make my workers more productive?

Lumber mills, stone masons, iron forges where needed and upgraded. Roads in the trees, or under the stone or iron.

Place their houes next to trees and water, where neither of these is possible, place a couple together as neighbours.

Don't have too many working the same lump of iron/rock/forest.

Place houses and the resource hub building as close as possible to the area being worked.

Go for Stonehenge and Pyramids wonders

Buy lots of Great Builders.
